The matter that Thom pointed out has nothing to do with the question of
whether or not Hillary campaigned in Florida.

Al:

In fairness I think I said (or at least implied) some pages back that Obama did not campaign in Florida.  I was not aware of a commercial that was played in Florida.  So in the interest of fairness I think he deserves some grief over that too, and deserves to be called on it.  I still think, however, that Clinton took steps to get endorsements and support in Florida prior to the primary.

True enough, Geoff, but the two are different matters. I'm very specifically
trying to pursue the Hillary question with Scott.

I'm just trying to be fair Al! (And I know I am probably failing at that . . . .)

I have mixed feelings about him leaving the church.  On the political expedency tip, I'm all for it.  If it's just giving bigots like Hannity something to crow about, then nip it in the bud.  If this meaningless issue is going to stand in the way of him taking office, then get rid of it.  Leave the damn place. Cut them off and never look back.

Having said that - considering my background and where I grew up and the people I've been exposed to... Look - I get that a lot of people in America haven't been exposed to things like that chuch, and I can see where people would be put off, but... it's nothing.  It's meaningless.  The words from that church shouldn't register any sort of blip on the national scene.  It's nothing I haven't heard a million times in my life, and despite it being said, the power structure is still the same in America, so... it's not like it's having any net effect.

And let me remind the voting public - nothing in Obama's voting record, public statements or policies reflect the words that have the nation so in a bind, so... that's kind of the important part to this whole debacle.

So... it bothers me that he's been bullied by the media into changing his personal life, yet by doing so, it will help him move forward and be able to serve our nation, so it's for the best in the end.

Mike:

It will be fine.  As long as he's not joing Fr. Pfleger's parish . . . .

:O)

I'd support you for President - I think the fact that you're republican would be more of a stopping point that any religious point of view, though!

But you'd still get my vote.

Unless you were running against Obama - I love that guy!

I do think early on Obama and the media had a little lovefest, but as he has become the frontrunner they have been more critical.  Sometimes stupidly so (I'm looking at you Charlie Gibson . . . ).
