But you'd still get my vote.

A Geoff Gibson Democrat! My granddad would be so proud!

Well, Geoff did say 2016, so a two-term Obama wouldn't be running then...unless, of course, he does away with the Constitution before that, and makes himself 'Presidential Soul Brutha For Life'.

Seriously, I could never get through the Republican primaries.  I want low taxes and small government, a strong national defense and I support free trade agreements but I'd lose the "social conservatives" (a group which I clearly do not belong to).  I want to leave matters of faith and religion in the churches and out of legislative halls. I think Gays should be able to marry one another and serve openly in the military. I think Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided but I am pro-choice.  I'm opposed to the death penalty.  I think science should be taught in science class, not a creation myth passing as "science."

One of the things that troubles me about my party of choice, is that there are quite a few members who think The Flintstones is a documentary.*

I'd be a nightmare presidential candidate.

*Obviously, I am kidding about that. Sort of.

I think McCain is pretty good.  I am convinced inside of him is the McCain of 2000.  I think 9/11 changed him somewhat but I don't think you can change the core of the man.

Yes he did.  Everyone talks about "how would history be different if Al Gore was president?" I wonder how would history be different if Dubya's minnions hadn't ruined McCain in South Carolina.*

*That so pissed me off at the time I considered not voting for Bush.  To my regret I got over it and voted for him in 2000. I did not repeat that mistake in 2004.

McCain is tolerable - Obama's my guy for sure, and I'd probably vote Dem even if it wasn't Obama, but... honestly, I think I can live with McCain as President.  He's cut of a different cloth than, say, Bush.

But I'm still backing Obama 100%

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Your man Obama doesn't agree. He links McCain to Bush nearly every time he mentions his name.
