They don't need a 2/3 majority for most things

To override a veto they do.

OK I tried to be out of this "he said, he said"  fight but Geoff you cut my 2 part response in half.

How so?

But if you are fighting about the statement that Greg does not trust un attached men who are with children, well tough I do too. Why, because you read about in the paper almost daily. If you think that is unfair that men are looked on that way, agian tough, get involved in changing the laws regarding how long a child molester stays in jail. (I am) Get the assholes off the street they are making you all look bad.

So by that logic you think its okay to profile?  Because thats what you are doing here.  Except its not race or faith based its gender based.

My apologies, but I have been encouraged not to let this stand:

 Greg Reeves wrote:
Al, you have clearly had an agenda against me with
your complete disregard for my actual words. I have absolutely no
prejudice against people incapable of having children. I have stated that
numerous times in that thread.

This is simply untrue. Greg's words (as he himself points out) are in that
thread for all to read. As are my own. I did not at any time have a
"complete disregard for [Greg's] actual words." Indeed, they informed
everything I said in that thread. It might serve Greg well to go back and
re-read that thread before he makes claims about what he was saying
there, or continues to make the suggestion that I had him on ignore and
never read what he'd written there. I had no agenda other than to tackle
ignorance and prejudice.

Call me "emotionally unstable" or a "manipulative bitch" all you like;
everyone here can see that for what it is. But do not lie about me.

Again, my apologies for the interruption. I do truly regret how it started
over in that thread, and regret that I brought it up again here. Please
carry on with what is of interest to folks in this thread: That dang
election!

Do they really use the term "breeders"?

Oh most definitely.  It's a very, very, verrrrry common term among gay people where being gay is their life.

Sorry Geoff but when they start reporting that dogs are the ones molesting 99.9% of the time in my community, I will stop trusting dogs with my child.

Is it profiling, yep I am sure it is, but I will not chance my childs safety for fear that I am not looking PC enough.

How so? Geoff asks

Geoff it was when I was posting something about the thread topic and you had brought up something about the fight between Greg and Al. I was kidding it didn't upset me at all.

Back on topic (and since CNN is reporting that McCain and Obama are now
neck-and-neck at the polls): what should each of them do next in order to
pull ahead?

Select the right running mate.

If McCain selects another moderate Republican as a running mate he has it in the bag (depending on what Obama does).

If McCain select a conservative Republican then it will hurt his chances a lot.

If Obama selects Clinton he'll have a huge chance at a win.

If Obama selects a moderate Democrat other than Clinton he'll have a slim chance.

If Obama selects a liberal Democrat he'll only be a memory in December.

In my opinion, of course.  And this is if there is no October surprise or dirty laundry to air between now and November.  If that happens, all bets are off.

Obama should bash the democrats in Congress

Why?

Because the current Democratic Congress has a terrible approval rating.

I'm hoping that's a couple with 14 children rather than some bizarre polygamist family.

It's 14 kids alright, they are very religious, it really upsets me, they are most likely all going to be republican. :0)

"If Obama selects Clinton he'll have a huge chance at a win."

I don't agree with that at all. Clinton is still a very polarizing figure among conservatives...and with her on the ticket, it's going to motivate those conservatives that are lukewarm on McCain. Plus, Obama's smart...the VP candidate historically has not really delivered significant votes. He's not going to want to have 5 months of co-campaigning lead to 4 years of headache w/ Hilary and her buttinsky husband (if you thought Bill was bad on the campaign trail...).

A better bet would be for him to nominate a high profile Dem that was a Clinton supporter.
