And it should be noted that the first 527 to attack was moveon.org with their detestable commercial with the mother and the kid.  Thats politics as usual.

 Geoff what was this?

Because he is not indebted to big companies he is indebted to the common guy, the person that gives as little as a dollar.

I'm increasingly unclear as to the point you're making.  You congratulate Obama for not taking public money during a bad economy, yet you think it's great that he'll be hitting up the "common guy" for donations -- you know, the "common guy" who's actually suffering during the bad economy?  By my perspective, it would be more altruistic of him to use the public funds that were specifically designated for this, rather than put the drain on his followers.

I think there are a ton of things we can crow about with regard to Obama that we don't have to twist something like this into near messianic proportions.

I agree wholeheartedly Matt.  You'll hear the McCain camp and the RNC bitch that Obama broke his pledge, but, really, who wouldn't?

"Have we really gotten so jaded that when someone that comes along that wants to rise above politics as usual."
No, a lot of us have become jaded when someone comes along that says he wants to rise above politics as usual, and then resorts to politics as usual.

Both Obama and McCain, their families, and their campaigns are going to be looked at with a fine tooth (and jaded) comb.  If one of them uses the wrong fork at a fundraising dinner, it's going to become headlines on the news, or at least on a political blog site.  And now that both are the presumptive candidates for their parties, it's only going to get worse.

"But wait lets do it the republican way and get big oil to get us into office, I am keyed up to spend 100 years in Iraq, hey that means my 12 year old may be able to go there."
Jodi, did you even listen to all of McCain's comments about 100 years in Iraq,   He isn't advocating fighting a war for that long.  The US has had troops and bases in Germany and Japan since the 40's, and in Korea since the 50's.  In fact, many military folks look forward to their tours to the overseas bases.

Thanks Geoff, I went to the link and they didn't have it, I'll do a little research and see if I can find it. If they did a hatchet job on McCain, then they are wrong, no if's, and's or buts.

I am not saying Obama is the second coming, but to use this issue against him is  ridiculous!!!!!!

When Indiana had it's primary, there was talk about republicans crossing over and voting for Hillary trying to screw up Obama's chances and making the primaries go longer.  There were some old time Democrats that wanted to challenge all republicans that were switching party. Which you can do in Indiana. Basically that would mean their vote would not be counted. But the Obama people said NO WAY, they did not want to win an election like that.

Curious, Thom, Jeff and Christopher who did you all vote for in the last election?

Added because I didn't see:

Here's moveon's latest POS

To be honest this is EXACTLY how I feel about my son. There is a difference in that the swiftboaters said Kerry shot someone in the back. Nightline did an issue by issue on the clains of the swiftboaters, a 1 hour show, showing each point they made was a lie.

I don't know that anyone is using it against him, Jodi, at least not the majority in this thread. It is a non issue.  I think what people are jumping on is the idea that Obama is turning down public funding for the good of the common, everyday taxpayer.  That's the spin some of his supporters, including yourself, are putting on it, but it's nothing he's said.
