I would not like to set a precedent by having someone just make an accusation that Mike "ate Babies" unless it was based on facts...

Mike, I don't like Obama's plan on income redistribution (increase the tax on families making more than $250k so as to give a tax cut to the middle class, increase retirement contributions on the wealthy with no increase in return, etc.), nor his plan to raise the minimum wage from $6.55 to $9.50. For companies already struggling this added expense will surely result in more jobs being lost...more than offsetting the increased pay for those that keep their minimum wage jobs. Plus it's unduly harsh burdon on small business owners. In addition, he's got a lot of plans for "investment" (ie. $150 billion in government spending) into creating jobs in green technology, etc. This and other government "investment" initiatives will either increase the deficit...or force a tax increase to pay for them.
Those are some examples of why I think he's going to be bad for the economy. I just think that providing incentive/tax breaks to the private sector to grow the economy is a better way to do it. That and curb government waste and spending. But that's just my take/philosophical view.

When people talk about 'the economy" as if it were a different thing from "the people", it shows something. A former neighbor of mine is a manual laborer, works hard every day, has no personal life to speak of, is recovering from serious illness and somehow gets by on less than $18,000 a year. He pays taxes just like everybody else. How long are guys like those supposed to hold on while "the wealthy", those people who are supposed to be leading the economy, continue to fuck things up left and right?

Lucky for him he lives in a country where he's free to pursue another job if he doesn't like the one he's in. I don't like throwing around the term "the wealthy" as if they're not working people either. While there are certainly the priviliged blue bloods out there, many of them are made up of people that worked hard in school, made the right choices, and worked hard to go up the ranks in their respective careers. Many of those that aren't wealthy did not.

It's not about whether or not to help poor people (come on...you're better than that type of simplistic good vs. evil argument). It's HOW to help them. The principle of teach a man to fish vs. give a man a fish.
Give a man a fire, he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

It must be hard for you, to have to look words up. Gets you all frustrated. You start spiting and ranting and typing angry things on the computer.
Now that was just a mean-spirited, nasty personal attack. Maybe it's time for another cool-down break from the thread?

Stop arguing like a 6th grader...unless perhaps that's all you're capable of. Before I commented that you're better than that...but maybe you're not.
Okay, just got to yours now Joel. That's also a nasty personal attack. I think both of you need to go to time out. :P

Now that's the funniest thing I've read all day! I am so going to be stealing
this.

And yes, Kevin, it's going to be very, very good to get rid of Bush.
Hallelujah and amen, brother!
