Powell can't run for office because he was apparently in the command chain during the Mai Lai Massacre.  At least that's what my college textbook in my 1960s class said, hehe.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

He wasn't. Your book is wrong.

Biden. I'm nauseous, just nauseous.

A 37-year old, gay, liberal, San Francisco Bay Area lifelong "blue-dog" Democrat now has to do some serious thinking about whether or not to pull the lever for Obama in November.  Yeah, Obama's in GREAT shape!

I wonder if McCain will win by a state or two, or pull a 5-6 state "landslide" ---- given that would be a landslide compared to '00 and '04.

Check out this ad McCain's campaign put up immediately following the
anouncement:

Obama continues to pleasantly surprise me.  Anyone else would have never picked someone who had criticized him that way, but he's showing he's somewhat above the childish games.  A highly experienced person not afraid to debate with McCain's side... a familiar face in Washington... he's a good pick.

I don't think you can judge Obama's standing by your particular reaction, or potentially your particular demographic, which is pretty small compared to the millions of independents (and democrats) who needed some sort of reassurance that Obama will know his way around Washington and in foreign policy.

Obama and Biden. Well, that should certainly put to rest the
Osama bin Laden references.

But Obama/Biden?  There are a lot of people who will just panic at the sound of that.  Let's face it.  Name recognition will hurt with a lot of the less informed voters.  (And there are a LOT of those)

That was the funniest thing I've read all week!  I didn't even consider that!

Do we have to wait till the conventions to see who'll be the VP candidates?

(Forgive my ignorance of the system - we don't have VPs)
