Children have to be taught to hate.  Children are color blind until they are told otherwise.

I agree, but Children must also be taught to be tolerant.  People fear and distrust what they do not understand. As a parent, I (and my wife) are trying to teach our daughters that people who are different are no better or worse than we are.  We stress that people deserve to be treated respectfully and with dignity.  Its a "never ending battle" teaching your kids to fight for "Truth, Justice and the American Way!"

Why thank you John. I have my moments.

Where the democrats have failed in recent years is that I don't think  they have articulated what you just did very well: which is love of country

Geoff you are right on the money, but also I think people like Rush made being labeled "liberal" a dirty word. But we allowed it to happen. I was at a political event and I was talking to the state democratic chairman and I was giving him hell for not coming out against the Iraq war when we gained a majority, his response was, most dems were afriad of being painted as unAmerican for taking that stance. I responded that now, they just looked like a bunch of spineless sheep.

Edited to add: Geoff I wish there were more parents like you and your wife.

I agree with that too.  But didn't I link you to a card carrying liberal card already?

LOL That is too good!!! I am going to start carrying one.

Here is an article about the little boy that I had mentioned above. He was sitting way in the cheap seats and was never going to get his question answered so I moved him up to the front and got everyone to point to him to get Baracks attention. Man he was a cute kid.

Edited to add:

Look at it this way if you are unsure who to vote for, think of a vote for Obama as a way of cancelling out, this guys vote :0) :

I saw John McCain defend not knowing how many houses he had with: I'm a war hero don't you know...

Reminds me of Grandpa Simpson. Next thing he'll be saying "I died in that war".

McCain couldn't win with that question.  Many wealthy families have investment properties that they don't even know about since they have people to find those investments for them.  Had he given an incorrect number the press would have been all over him.  He, instead decided to double check rather than give incorrect information.

I wish Bush had double checked before going into Iraq.

Barry is the name Obama used thru college, probably to fit in more by not having a strange name (strange as in unusual to people in America).

So Jodi, are you saying that if someone doesn't vote for Obama they are either members of the KKK, or supports what the KKK stands for?

Sure, the McCain "how many houses" thing is silly and trivial, but it kind of serves him right for trying to propound the "Obama is an elitist" theme.  He opened himself up for this kind of stuff.

Everybody complains about negative campaigning, but the fact is that it works.  The Democrats' failures in recent elections have been because they've been too timid to go for the jugular with simplistic negative ads.  Those things work.
