I want to take back my "loaded" question to Scott.  While I do think the "Obama bin Biden" etc. type jokes are pretty clearly racist, and religiously bigoted, I shouldn't have asked Scott such an innuendo-laden question without more cause to do so.  I am not saying I won't call people out when I think they say things that are beyond the pale, but I should have more to go on than what can easily be dismissed as a joke.

Again, personally I DO feel such jokes are in poor taste and betray some level of prejudice.  For that, I am not willing to apologize or back off from one bit.

The acceptance speech in front of Greek-style columns will NOT be on enough people's minds to make a difference when they are in the voting booth in November... I PROMISE.

I completely agree.  There will be so many other things on their minds that, that drop in the bucket will be forgotten.

Sorry, Knut!!!  Scott, do you have a problem with those of the Muslim faith or Arabs?

Not at all.  I didn't come up with the McCain and Abel or Obama bin Biden lines.  There are actually Obama bin Biden T-shirts out there.

Edit:  Just noticed you recalled your question.  That's cool.  I'm still happy to answer.

BBC News found some Democratic supporters who actually believe Obama is a Muslim just because his middle name is Hussein. Its why they're not voting for him.

Mustn't swing at the easy ones.  Show some restraint, Tommy...

I have had conversations with college-educated folks who believe the same.
I have also heard a fellow educator say to another that she agrees with all of
Obama's politics, but is against interracial relationships, and so can't
support anyone who is the offspring of such a union.

Wow.  That is just so sad, bordering on infuriating, that in this day and age someone would be opposed to interracial relationships.  Doubly frustrating that it's a supposed "educator" who holds that belief.
