Quick question: who would you rather have for a president, Dan Quayle, Dick Cheney, or Sarah Palin? Gerald Ford, maybe? I know very little about her, just what I've learned today, and I'd feel about as comfortable with her as a President as I would with Obama. I think there is about an equal chance of that happening, ie, very little, so I'm not terribly concerned. If either ever did become President, I think it would work itself out and nothing too terrible would happen to the nation or the government, under their leadership.

Anyone who has never been President before would be inexperienced at the
job.
(Hm. Maybe the Dems should have gone with Hilary after all...)

OK question for the Republicans on here, sell me the McCain / Palin ticket, don't mention what you don't like about Obama, tell me why we will be better off with McCain/Palin in office.

what I don't get is that despite his "inexperience" Obama has vision, something that is sorely lacking in modern politics. That alone would make me want to vote for him. He should move to Canada

I am not really thrilled with either contender.

"A governor, which is arguably more hands on and a better prereq for the White House than being a cog in the legislative wheel"
Governor George Bush. President George Bush. Governor George Bush. President George Bush.
Well, so much for that logic. Clearly being Governor offered George little other than the common happenstance that some people climb the ladder of success until they finally reach a position at which they are unsuccessful. Her office does not qualify her for crap. She is on notice to demonstrate to the American people she is qualified to take on that office. And the proof lies not in what she's done, but what values, vision, personal skills, convictions and temperament she will bring to the job.
In short, she has to be vetted for the job by the American people. Then she would be on call over the 4 yrs. in office to prove them correct. -This pick was a gamble on McCain's part. While there is the hope that she may pull potential voters to the republican column, she is the least 'vetted' candidate on board. No one has seen her in action on this stage. It is unclear how she will handle herself in the campaign or what the public perception of her will be.
With luck, God willing, she will fall flat on her ass. The fact George Bush is scheduled to speak at the Republican Convention on the same day a hurricane is expected to make landfall on U.S. shores is a sign 'luck' may not be in the Republican's favor this time around. Even the heavens are against you.
8 years was more than enough.
Too much, actually.

Rich don't bet the farm on that. I am a Democrat. I was for Clinton and as it stands now I don't know how I will cast a vote.
Even after eight years of this man Bush I am not sure Obama has what it takes.
I mean what has the guy done? Ever? He reminds me more of a rock star than a president.
It is ironic Bush will be speaking at the GOP's convention the same day a hurricane is forecast to hit the States.
Did you ever see Colbert's speech to the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner? He really laid into Bush and the press.

I was watching the faux-preaching farce that was/is the 2008 Democratic Convention -- thinking to myself how gullable these poor people are, but of course, the Democrats are playing to the fans like a preacher plays to their audience - expect the tears and the allauelahs. Praise The Lord, The Reverend Martin Luther Obama Jnr is here....
....so I've been all depressed over how "the people" are being suckered in by this show of Obama/Biden thinking, "how can McCain recover from this?" McCain is the better pick, even my unwavering Democrat of a wife thinks that -- but McCain has such an uphill battle -- and now, to see how Obama's flock just worships him blindly...POW !! -- McCain announces Sarah Palin !!! A stroke of genius!!! For the first time in the 17 years I've known my wife, we'll be voting for the same camp.
If all goes as planned for the next couple months --- we'll have our first woman Vice Presidnet. If they can win my wife over, the rest is easy.
What sucks -- for Obama -- if he had picked Edwards, I would have voted that way. A second stroke of genius for the republicans, leaking news of that adultry -- too bad they couldn't have waited until AFTER he'd been picked by Obama...makes one think that the Democrats may have scuttled that ship themselves...

Bill Maher said something similar on Realtime a few years ago. Discussing a statement "Dubya" made about praying for guidance, Maher noted that several hurricanes (including Katrina) were lobbed at Florida, Louisiana and Texas. "Maybe god is listening...Bush just doesn't understand the answer."

I don't think I'm alone in getting a little annoyed at the way he's being
covered. I think a bit of backlash is forming.
---
It's truly sad that many people will cast their vote based not on Obama
himself, but how he was covered by the press.
