It'll be a few days before they get the GOP VP thoroughly polled. Look forward to the VP debate, though. I think Biden may have to go rope-a-dope in the first rounds of that debate so he's not seen as viciously KO'ing a lady with the first punch. Even if she is as great a debater some of "the GOP machine" is spinning her.

Biden is toast in a debate. The Republicans will bait him and bait him and bait him -- he'll have two choices - take the bait and look like he's being a big meanie to a lady (alienate women voters), or not take the bait and look like a whimpy idiot (alientate voters in general).
He's toast.

A McCain victory would reflect the truth. That kings are born, not made.
This makes absoutely no sense.

Perhaps the best reason to vote Obama: if something isn't working, you change it!! If we put Obama in the White House, we don't have more "Bush" to deal with. The Republicans had their chance, it's been horrible, and McCain (unfortunately) doesn't look any different than Bush. Let's give someone else a try. If things are messed up 4 years from now...don't reelect the guy!
On another note: when they talk about states Hillary won, and wonder if Obama can pick up votes in them, they ignore those Independents like me who didn't vote in the primaries, but will (most likely) vote Obama in the general election.

I don't know enough about Palin to have an opinion, and being at work I really haven't had a chance to do more than very casually glance the news reports about her. I do think it was very shrewd of McCain to pick a woman VP. A female VP would be (almost) as historic as a black President, so some of the wind is taken out of Obama's sails. The still disgruntled Clinton supporters may now give McCain even stronger consideration, if they feel Palin is as relatable as Clinton.
I did find it hilarious and gallingly hypocritical that the Obama campaign is already harping on her inexperience. That's a card they would best stay away from, as it does little but remind everyone of Obama's inexperience. Strip away the politics and personalities and I think the vast, vast majority of Americans would agree that an experienced President with a novice VP is far more desirable than a green President with a seasoned VP.

"being a big meanie to a lady (alienate women voters)"
Well, Biden doesn't have to win his debate by being mean. All he has to do is make his points better than Palin does. He doesn't have to go after Palin the same way he is doing with McCain. Unless "attack dog" is the only mode Biden is capable of.

"I was watching the faux-preaching farce that was/is the 2008
Democratic Convention -- thinking to myself how gullable these poor
people are,
....so "the people" are being
suckered in by this show of Obama/Biden "
You are clueless retard.
Despite being a life long Democrat, I have broken bread with life long friends who are Republican. One thing I can say, while I am not a Republican I do have a grasp and appreciation for Republican values. What values they have and why they have them. I am also aware of our common aspirations for the nation, although we have contrary ideas as to how they can be achieved. At least I get it.
Your comment reflects an utter disregard for the values and value system of Democrats. Because if you had any clue, you wouldn't see this convention as the gullible "following a leader", but millions upon millions of frustrated Democrats saying, "finally, someone is saying what I have voiced around the dinner table for 8 long years."
This is not a situation where the sheep are following a leader, it is a leader who is voicing the sheep. People who have been angered for 5 years plus at this disaster of a war that has cost America so dearly with no value to it what so ever. People angry that Republicans have used the flag and country as if they own it.
People tired of Rovian tactics that sought to conform all government and law to one end of the political spectrum only.
People tired of the false principle that the only means to economic growth is deregulation, failure of oversight and corporate windfalls. Where we watch the Federal Government turn a blind eye to the deregulated bubble that was was the housing industry only to have it ultimately burst with home owners and tax payers footing the bill.
People tired of "Heck of a job, Brownie." A Justice Dept. owned by one ideological wing. A Supreme Court being stacked along the same. And on and on.
You are welcome to believe what you believe to be the best course for America. But don't think to claim to own your position AND define ours as well because you are so far off base it is insulting.
Obama won the Democratic nomination because he best voiced what the people feel. The words you heard were not to guide sheep. They are the words, the dreams, the aspirations of the people who call themselves Democrats.
McCain can talk of being a maverick all he wants. But he has used his position on the War in a way that would suit Karl Rove to a 'T.' Anyone opposed to his position is a coward. Cuts and runs. Not a true American. Not a patriot. His quickness to "bomb, bomb Iran" and his 'my schlong is the biggest' approach to Russia clearly show he's willing to coddle to every Neocon position of the last 8 years.
He can talk of being a maverick, but he will do little to begin a progression away from big oil.
The slimy seeds are already in place in the Justice Dept. and other branches of government. If he wins they stay and they will not change.
These people could not be more undeserving of another 4 yrs. in power. God willing, we will out number you by at least one electoral vote.

The way McCain repeatedly acquiesced to Bush qualifies him ONLY to be a Democratic Senator, if you ask me.
