"Remember, Alaska's the closest part of our continent to Russia, so it's not as if she doesn't understand what's at stake here."

I am sorry but if Obama was named Larry Smith and he was white, this election would be a slam dunk, look there are bigots in my party, that will vote for the first time republican, because Obama is black.

Geez Jodi.  It goes both ways.  There are people who are voting for him purely because he is black too.  One of my friends at work is a white Republican and he's voting for Obama, even though he disagrees with his policies and thinks he isn't qualified for the position.  His vote is so he can "help make history."  To me, that's even worse than someone who won't vote for him because of the color of his skin.  He's willing to put someone in office, someone he doesn't believe in or think is qualified, purely because he's black.

If Obama loses, it's going to be because he lost legitimately, not because of race.  Lately there has been a lot more of the "if Obama loses it's because of...." stuff from his followers than usual.  If they need to start making excuses for him it sounds like they are starting to think he won't win.

I may be wrong here but white or not, no other democratic (or republican) in recent years has had the ability to INSPIRE. So I disagree with the above statement. Obama's been black helped & hurt him in his campaign but his words are what gave him a campaign at all.

Being charming falls some where just stlightly above being able to send an e-mail on the list of Presidential qualifications.  His words didn't give him the campaign.  The media did.

If Obama was really that inspirational would he be neck and neck with McCain in the polls?

Exactly.  The way the media has pushed him down our throats and the disapproval rating for Bush/Cheney should have given him at least a 20 point lead.  This election should have been a slam dunk for us as Democrats.  To be as close as it is says a lot.

Apparently her Down Syndrowne kid is her grandkid.

Yes, and Obama is the Anti-Christ.

I've heard both rumors and believe them both equally.

Does anyone on here remember a few pages back the "rumor" Michelle Obama said "Whitey" .  But you are right we are all colorblind.

One of my friends at work is a white Republican and he's voting for Obama, even though he disagrees with his policies and thinks he isn't qualified for the position.  His vote is so he can "help make history."

This is like watching a dog walking on it's hind legs, unnerving, I think this guy is BS ing you. I am going to throw the BS flag. LOL

But so what if Palin was claiming her grandkid for her own?

I don't believe this is true that she did this, the woman is not qualified to be president, and that is ultimately what we are asking, but why it would be bad is, it would be a big lie and deception. But as I said, I would not look for it to be the truth. I feel bad for her daughter. The press is going to turn this info upside down and over all the while making her daughter look like a slut. But Hey Sarah, welcome to politics.

Actually, if you look into the Palin-is-grandma story there's some compelling, if circumstantial evidence. And it's apparently been news/rumour for a while in Alaska, and possibly started/uncovered by her enemies within the Republicans. That's what I've read anyway.

But if it's NOT true, and she is the mother, her story involves her water's breaking in Dallas, her then going to make a speech, then flying 8 hours from Dallas to Alaska including a change of planes,  not having informed either airline that she was enetering labour (and all of the airline staff reported as saying they couldn't tell she was pregnant, let alone about to deliver), then once she touched down in Alaska driving another hour, past two better equipped hospitals, until she reached her local hospital where the doctor was a supposed 'friend.'

Even ignoring the cover-up theory, doesn't that seem an odd and dangerous decision to make?

Actually…

••

So. . . which parts of that post are "actual", exactly?

I don't want to sound like I'm apologizing for a Republican; I think they're directly to blame for the most serious problems of the country. But so what if Palin was claiming her grandkid for her own? If anything, it shows she is a self-sacrificing parent.

********

Now I don't believe this rumor for a second. But if it is true it shows nothing about being self sacrificing. It shows a woman more concerned with her image than with admitting her children make mistakes.

Sarah, 44, had her water unexpectedly break (just a slow leak of amniotic fluid, she shared) while attending an energy conference in Texas, but checked in with her doctor, was able to stay, deliver a 30 minute speech, and then get on a plane to return to her home state in time for the delivery (which ended up needing to be induced) early this morning.
