If it's off-limits, why are the Republicans trying to spin it as a positive?
**************************
As opposed to....? How are they supposed to spin it? I suppose correct PR would be "Y'know, I guess she is a slut after all... Anywho, back to the issues...." ***************************
Should they be spinning it at all? Can't they just say 'It's a family matter and not related to her running for VP' and leave it at that? Instead my TV has been full of RNC attendees and Republican spokespeople of all ranks responding to reporters questions about Palin (questions not related to her fitness to be a mother but her capacity to embarrass McCain with surprise revelations) with 'It shows how normal she is, I think real women will identify with Palin's handling of this issue, etc.'
That Republican smile-machine robot on that Owl-Man's show (sorry I can't remember their names) was the same. That old baldie who worked for the Clintons was attacking her experience and carefully not commentating on the pregnancy and offering understanding on the matter - yet the two Republicans were constantly shilling Palin on how this crisis somehow proves their candidates worth.

If you don't like "what if" scenarios what about JFK? Was he wrong to expose his pregnant wife to a Presidential campaign?
**********
How in the hell is that even remotely the same thing? Exposing a grown woman, who knew exactly what was going on, is completely different than exposing a young lady who sees everyday what certain assholes in this country say about unplanned teenage pregnancy. Most from her mother's own party.
She knew her daughter was pregnant and still excepted the nomination. She had to know it would bring undue attention to a young girl already going through something traumatic.

I sometimes believe that McCain (or any of his governmental comrades) could shoot someone in the face for fun, and supporters would go, "Well, it was really okay for him to do that because..."
Obama could do the same and supporters would go, "Well, it was really okay for him to do that because he offers hope and change..."

Because no one would "leave it at that". They'd be accused of deflecting. Or hiding the issue. Or hiding an even bigger cover-up. Neither the press (gotta fill that 24/7 news cycle!) nor the opposition, once they have a tidbit like this, will let it go until it's been bled dry.

Worked for Cheney.....
And Cheney even had his victim apologizing in front of the press for being shot.

No it isn't even close to the same.

Any parent who brings their children into the spotlight does so with a
certain inherent selfishness. What offense did Chelsea Clinton commit,
other than going through puberty in the public eye? Obama is opening
up his children to a lifetime of scrutiny and public criticism. You
think Obama's children won't have their own mistakes and foibles that
will become fodder for the news?

There are some great new photos of the daughter showing underage
drinking (well, underage holding of alcoholic beverage, anyway) and
brandishing firearms with her beau.
My parents always told me that my behavior reflects upon them. Would say
the same thing in this, albeit public, case as well.

Worked for Cheney.....
LOL
Seriously why do people who seek office, ever think it won't come out, Edwards is a big dumb shit and he should be done with politics, to cheat on your sick wife is pretty low, but then to do it, while running for office of the President. I would say his judgement is horrible and should never be re-elected. This is kind of funny, my dad said, "wow the republicans having a sex scandal, they sound like democrats."
Edited to add:
Thom you can rationalize it all you want, but it is not the same thing. This woman is a very selfish Mom.
Todd I wish you liked me, I love what you have to say.

Well, it was fun right up UNTIL then...
On the daughter pregnancy thing - "abstinence-only" sex "education" is a joke, whether her daughter was having sex or not. You don't need child having sex to illustrate that.

Then, ignoring your obvious double-standard, Obama is a very selfish Dad.
