You know Obama couldn't pass the Bar Exam, right.   That's why he never entered into the practice of law and instead "taught" it at UoC.

I hate to defend the guy but Obama passed the bar exam on the first try. It was his wife who failed.

Really?   I'd heard it in eve-dropping conversation in the office.  Still works for me that (an) Obama didn't pass the bar.

:-)   LOL

Good comments, Geoff.

I think putting Palin on the ticket took the experience card off the table for the McCain campaign, and puts the focus on the issues and differences in direction for the two campaigns.

I think the McCain campaign knew this in picking her. Obviously they felt an "experience" message wasn't going to get them into the white house in the end, and decided to push things in a different direction. I think it opens the campaign up quite a bit.

Are you kidding?  Do you have a link?  Obama did not practice a great deal and never really was a trial lawyer, but he was admitted, filed suits and briefs in Federal Court, even arguing before the United States Circuit Court.  See this article.

I understand that Obama's license is presently in-active but that could be for any number of reasons, most of which would have nothing to do with his past practice, his quality of practice or his knowledge base.

Did you ever take a bar exam?  Flunking a bar exam is nothing to be ashamed of and its not a measure of one's quality as an attorney, a student or a person.  I was lucky, I passed the only time I took it but I know some exceptional lawyers who failed more than once.  Making fun of someone for failing says more about you than it does them.

I think she was picked because she strengthens the base and they hoped to woo some Hillary supporters.  I also think David Brooks is right.

Yes, let's not make light of lawyers.  The bar is a very difficult test.

Well, being Irish and all, it was the first bar I ever passed in my life!

(Thanks, I'm here all week, tip your waitresses!)

Then what did you mean by this: "Still works for me that (an) Obama didn't pass the bar. :-)   LOL"

You wanted to knock the guy so you used an unsubstantiated rumour.  Then when corrected you still used it to knock his wife.  Come on, man, at least be straight about what you were doing.
