My point is that there is, and that they have just as much place in the defaulted loans.

You wouldn't get that from listening to right wing radio.  They're full on saying that it's blacks faults.

Like it or not, this has taken on a racial overtone.

So they are only giving loans to blacks? Only blacks are
poor? This is not the case and you are looking through
racial sunglasses my friend. My close friend and his
wife have a loan from Freddie Mac and they are white.

I would like to let you know I am married to an asian
woman, my kids will be bi-racial. My sister is married
to a mexican man, who was an illegal at one point! (they
have two children) and my cousin has two children with a
black man (they are not married yet).

I am talking about the democratic party and how they
were in the pocket of these organizations, blocking any
form of trying to fix the problem when the alarms came
up.

Who said this? I haven't heard it. And if they did I
think it would be all over the news. Please give sources
to back it up.

Are you even reading what I'm writing?  You or Christopher?

What's more - we've already debunked the ideas that JUST the dems were in the pockets of these organizations.

Starting to wonder if maybe it's a matter of you just not really reading everything carefully before reacting to it.

I don't know, Woods - all right wing radio sounds the same to me - but here are some of the show I listen to going to and from work - it's been said on a few of them: Hugh Hewit, Michael Savage, Mark Levin, Mike Gallagher.

Nice try.

My take on the the point Thomas was trying to make with that video is that Obama and the democrats are partly responsible for this mess as well. I don't see any racist intent and I think Jodi is way out of line for her accusations against Thomas. (Yes, bc the video involves the Congressional Black Caucus, some people may infer this...and yes, some of the comments are horrendous. But he wasn't directing us to the comments. Nearly every video on YouTube or any video sharing sites have tons of idiotic comments and it's stupid to judge the content by those.)

I think the video is relevant bc of Obama's constant assertion that the financial crisis is due to the Bush/Republican failed economic policy.  Yes, it's absolutely wrong to lay the blame solely on poor people, Freddie/Fannie, the democrats...but they ARE part of it. And it's absolutely wrong to lay the blame soley on the Bush economic policy. But both arguments make for quick, easy "blame game" talking points aimed at the lowest common denominator, and it's sad that none of the candidates are willing to rise above that.

I don't buy it Joel.  Had he said that at any point, it would have been "fair enough", but just on this page he says:

I am talking about the democratic party and how they
were in the pocket of these organizations, blocking any
form of trying to fix the problem when the alarms came
up.

Hell, even me - li'l ol' bully me - even I admitted it was on both sides of the aisle.

I do agree - and have said (over and over - what's the reading level on this thread?) that I give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he didn't go into it with racial overtones.  His response was to call us bullies and then try to show how many minorities he knows.

Thomas - I'd strongly suggest you step back from posting for a moment - think before you react.  Look at what Joel posted.  That's a reasonalbe rational reply.  Follow his example.

Thomas, I've been working in the financial market for about 15 years and at least for the past 10 years there have been a lot of warnings about the "buble" in US real state market.

The whole concept of allowing someone not financialy capable of purchasing a property worth USD 300.000,00, when that person's limit should be USD 140.000,00 is a big part of the problem.

I can make a list of what caused the current crisis, and none of them are in the core beliefs of the democratic party, but in the Republican party. It is about ideology, it is about assumptions, concepts. To say that Democrats had benefit of the current crisis is the same of saying that Enron collapse was because of the Democrats and ignore the relationship between "Kenny Boy" and the Bush family.

I suggest that you watch the movie "Enron, Smartest guys in the room. It is quite disturbing when you see the facts: Mark to Market, derivatives, poor corporate citizenship, and "strange" relations with the Bush administration.

Again I think you are looking through racial sunglasses.
I know that if anyone were stupid enough to directly
blame blacks on their show they would be committing
career suicide. Look what happened to Imus over a small
joke. Perhaps you just don't like that they are naming
people who are part if the meltdown and these people
happen to be black, but there are plenty of white names
being thrown around as well. You can't label these
racial motivations, if people screwed up, they screwed
up.

I did nothing of the sort. I was talking about the video itself. If you misunderstood then I am sorry. I truly didn't mean it that way.
