Christopher, if you are really interested in the facts, you can read this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Taliban-Militant-Islam-Fundamentalism- Central/dp/0300089023/ref=sr_11_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1223256662 &sr=11-1

But if you already decided that Bush had anything to do with Osama Bin Laden being trained to fight the Soviet Union, and any FACTS are going to change your mind about that, then why bother?

Bin Laden's group was one of many fighting the Soviets. Jimmy Carter started sending aid to some of those groups and Reagan continued it. Bin Laden's group was not one of the ones we aided.

I'm not sure what your link is supposed to prove. The Taliban was formed several years after the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan.

And there's a world of difference between Don Imus and political talk
radio.

I enjoy Imus he makes me laugh and he has great guests. Hannity and Levin
make me laugh, but not in the same way!

The video shown had not targeted the democrats it was, Black people and as I said, it was the Black Congressional Caucus which meant there were both dems and R's there, the only common denominator was, they were all black.

Thomas here are some of your responses:

Playing the race card is part of what got us into this
mess.

Please explain what you meant by this?

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates
among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie
Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on
loans that it will purchase from banks and other
lenders.

Again a mention about minorities, explain what you mean please?

++++

How can you be so sure about that? He was in US side back then, right?
And since after September 11th every terrorist group has connections with Al Kaeda (or whatever this is written) I find it amusing.

That book is full of facts that US and CIA did trainned the same people being hunted in Afeganistan, not just the Taliban. Thing are not black and white all the time, and obviously Bush father was not training people himself on the field, my point is, HE was INVOLVED in those decisions, HE was HIGHLY ranked Official. Was not his decision ALONE, but he was there, he took part, and I bet many democrats too.

Sorry my English, it is not my mother language.

Now, that racism is on the discussion, why call a black person "African American"

Marcio - Malcolm X and others noted that blacks did not come to America by choice, and thus, we not proper Americans and needed a better desciptor.  They were not Americans, they were "Afro-Americans", or later, "African-Americans".

The fact that it's been co-opted by everyone ("Look!  I'm a Australian-American!") as does the idea that anyone from Africa, now living in America, or their decendants (ie - Barack Obama) defeats the purpose of it.  It was meant to separate the decendants of African slaves from the rest of the peoples of the world who came to America by choice. (It does not factor in indentured servants or those who came to make money to send home or anything else that is suggested to lessen the impact and reality of slavery.  Nor should it.  People of Africa have a unique entry into America)

Malcolm X had a lot of interesting thoughts on the subject, as found in his Autobiography, or any of his other collections of writings, or recorded speaches.  Totally worth checking out, Marcio.

Are you going to explain to Barack Obama that he isn't an African American?

Thanks Mike, never thought of that... and I never thought that Malcom X started it. I read some Steve Biko writings, but that's about South Africa, other story.

Really appreciate your post Mike.

By the way I've to Australia in 2004, great country! (a bit too far though).

Cheers!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You have a bright future in comedy.

The last Black Republican in Congress didn't join and was called an Uncle Tom. Before him a Black Republican was kept out of  out of CBC meetings despite having paid $5,000 in dues.
