Didn't we have the Wright discussion about 300 pages ago?  Is this back again?  From my view, If we are going to start judging candidates by the insane things their preachers or priests say would anyone who goes to church be able to hold office?  Wright's no more dangerous than Jerry Fallwell or Pope Benedict.  In fact, based on the reach (e.g. size of their congregations) both those men have (or had in the case of Fallwell), they are probably more dangerous!

The one issue surrounding Wright that had some weight, to my mind, was Obama's continued membership in Trinity church when he heard Wright say crazy and offensive things.  But I think he addressed that and dealt with it in his "More Perfect Union" speech.  Believing that Obama would follow all of Wright's "teachings"  or his ministry is as patently absurd as people in 1960 believeing that John F. Kennedy was controlled by the Vatican.

"He is angry and militant and has the ability to rally followers."

Uh, doesn't that describe McCain too?

And Scott, I think you're just scared of Black people. You're the one who should "grow up".

Is it terrible of me, that there is a little part of me that would like to see Palin in, just so I can see Tina Fay on SNL.  U.S. be damned I want more quality comedy. LOL

Good news - the TUCC armed uprising is not scheduled this month.  We are spared the sight of 10,000 angry, militant, rallied followers storming the seats of government and casting us back into the dark ages.  No word on any upcoming pancake breakfasts, either.

Thanks Michael. According to their website, their mission is to advance the global black community by developing leaders, informing policy and educating the public.

Huh. I didn't realise all black people were the exact same and all belong to a certain community. What the hell is a "black community" anyway? Is Obama part of the black community or is he part of the white community? If he is a member of this group then I have lost a bit of respect for him. I thought he was beyond all of this old-fashioned thinking.

No pancakes? No Bingo? No violent uprising? What the hell kind of church did Obama belong to?  Now I really question his judgment . . . .

Wow, there you go showing your amazing lack of skills in reading people again.  Bravo.  Not everything is about race.

Anyone who thinks Rev. Wright is dangerous isn't too skilled at reading people either.

He is angry and militant and has the ability to rally followers.

So vague an answer, so many things wrong with it.

He's not militant.

Of course he's angry - you heard what he was talking abo- oh... oh, yeah.  You're the guy that equates the black experience with turning lemons into lemonaide... yeah... you've got some social studies to work on before your opinion becomes "informed".

And if he can rally followers? Why hasn't he rallyed them to do anything yet?  He's been at it for 20 years now.  So far, all he's rallyed them to do is make donations to his church.

No.

Also?  Yes, the point of what I was trying to say is that the radio djs are racist.  You're confirming my point.

Geoff - mea culpa - I brought the preachers back - I was harping on Palin's "pray away the gay" preacher and the fact that she got a special protection against witchcraft from her preacher before she hit the campaign trial.  We were trying to explain that those were different than a preacher who was upset about the black situation in America.  You might have missed it, but that's when Scott told America's blacks that they needed to take their lemons and make lemonaide.  It was pretty amazing.

Neil - have you read Obama's book "Dreams of my Father?" - it's a pretty interesting look at his take on that subject.

Apparently it's perfectly ok to say you can pray the gay away and that Alaska is the last refuge for true believers when god's wrath smites us all, but not to be an angry black man in this country. No one preaching hatred against anyone is a "harmless crackpot". All preachers have the ability to inspire others. That's why they're preachers.
