>>To be nitpicky, the nadir should refer to the lowest point, not just a low
point.<<

To be nitpicky, that's impossible until a 'history' is complete. So long as the
history --in this case, of a nation-- is incomplete one must make do with
arbitrary measures such as "from the beginning until now" or "in the past
100 years" or "in the history of this polling organization" or "in my lifetime".
So long as there is disagreement of this metric there will always be the
comfy wiggle room to claim fallacy.

"America is indeed at a historical nadir. Not hyperbole. Just a point of
view.

Yours is different."

Hey, have you seen the poll on angels, Al?

68% of Americans believe in Angels

See, and here I thought you'd take the opportunity to walk away gracefully.

Cliff, where did you get that electoral map you posted?  Based on recent polling it's generally overly optimistic for McCain, assuming he will win Florida, Ohio, Indiana, New Mexico and Colorado, all states that are currently polling as too close to call (several of which due to Obama posting recent gains).  On the other hand, I've yet to see any other poll suggest Obama had even a remote chance to win Tennessee.

And, here, I thought you'd do the same when I quoted you and offered my agreement after the point had been duly made.

Exactly.

Slander is spoken.

In print, it's libel.

But you were wrong. We hadn't agreed, and you knew it. You were being
disingenuous suggesting we had.

But I feel that's OK. We don't have to agree.

If you need it to be more explicit than what I said in the post at the top of
the page, how about we try this:

Let's just agree to disagree and move on then, Michael.

Edited to add quote for context. Darn you, Todd Douglas!

I can't believe I forgot to put the 'n' on 'an' in front of 'historical'.

With H words, it can go either way, depending on how you pronounce them.

All the other categories are a subset of "until now", so I don't see the wiggle room. I'd see your point if someone was saying, "This is the lowest point that we'll ever be," but that person is either an idiot or someone to get lottery ticket numbers from.

Every time I make a
Little post like that,
It turns into a veritable
Zoo,
Al.
But I hope
Everything is still square between us.
To think a little post blip calls for my darning breaks my
Heart.

Best wishes
And
Never in a million years would I
Knowingly try something sneaky like a
Subliminal message to get back on your good side.
