So... wait, wait, wait - is McCain:

  1. Trying to lose on purpose because he doesn't want to deal with Depression 2.0?
  2. Just throwing these things out there as inside jokes for those who are paying close attention?
  3. A moron?
  4. All of the above?

What if I just live in a near constant state of dread? ;)

Esquire, a must-read mag for me - has just endorsed Obama.  Follow Linky, winky:

Like, it's bizarre - with nothing else sticking, he figures he'll tap into the Hannity fear-mongering, and try to link Obama to "unrepentant terrorists", and then... uh... proudly announces endorsement from... "unrepentant terrorist"?

Like... who's driving that bus?

I'm honestly getting the feeling that he's taking a dive on this one.  He's made wrong turns at every step of the way, and not just wrong turns, but out of character wrong turns - bizarrely so in many cases.

Geoff,

Thanks for mentioning that Brooks column on the conservative movement.  I found it interesting.

Although I'm not a conservative, I always found William F. Buckley's Firing Line stimulating and at times entertaining.  Conversely, I never had use for the talk radio stuff (Limbaugh, Savage, etc.).  I guess that makes me part of the elite.

Someone on the FARK boards noted that McCain 2008 is basically McCain 2000 posessed by BOB from Twin Peaks.

Looking forward to his concession speach - a trickle of blood running down his face, leaning into the mic saying "How's Sarah?  How's Sarah?  How's Sarah?"

"McCain 2000 is trapped in the lodge - write this in your diary!"

On the radio at lunch they were talking about Obama's lead and linking the stock market crashing since the bail out to his lead.  They said it was big business and investors reacting to a likely Obama Presidency and to expect it to crash even more if he wins in November.
