Don't be ridiculous - or insulting. Look over my posts and I clearly said that Obama shouldn't be judged on his rather tenuous former connection to Ayers. Don't know if I could've been much clearer, in fact.

I agree that it's wrong and dangerous to judge Obama based on this minor, inconsequential connection. But it's just as dangerous to sweep Ayers' crimes under the rug as some sort of "youthful indiscretion." The guy planted bombs in public places - including city parks, for crying out loud.

Jodi, I know you are a mother, so let's put it this way: What if someone planted a bomb at a public park where your kids play? Would you be so willing to dismiss those crimes then?

Well Bruce in China they have a quick judgement and death penalty for crimes like that, but I always believed that liberty, freedom and the right to a second chance in life are still appreciated values in United States.

I do not see anyone defending Ayers, stating facts, like Ayers never tortured nor murdered anyone, is not an example of defense of his acts or ideas.

************

Marcio, the only reason Ayers didn't kill anyone is due to sheer, dumb luck. The bottom line is he was trying to kill people. He shouldn't get credit for having bad luck as a terrorist.

If you want to say, "Obama has no connection to Ayers and shouldn't be lumped into the same category," I will completely agree 100 percent.

But if you want to say (as some seem to be saying), "Oh, Ayers wasn't so bad and even if he was, he's a nice guy now," I will 100 percent disagree. You can't whitewash terrorism and attempted murder.

OMG, that almost made me cry.  I don't know why, but THAT was funny.

They are -- but that's not the same as a "Get out of jail free" card. Ayers has never been held accountable for his actions nor has he accepted any accountability for his crimes. He's the O.J. Simpson of the terrorist set.

Bruce, what is your proposition?

Take them to the NYC Central Park anyone who murdered in the past 40 years and hang them? I am sure Ayers would not be alone.

There is a system, a system that is not perfect, but must be respected and perfected. To lynch a person who committed crimes 40 years ago, and, apparently is now a respected citizen, just because of his connection with the Democratic president, then this just seem wrong to me.

Huh?!? Holding someone accountable for their crimes is now akin to "lynching?"

I don't have a proposition, other than Ayers and his compatriots should face the appropriate charges in a court of law.

There is a precendent for this. In the past decade, a number of elderly white supremacists who dodged justice in state courts in the 1960s have been indicted and convicted on federal charges, due to heinous crimes they committed during the Civil Rights Era. And rightfully so -- justice deferred is still better late than never. Yes, most of these white supremacists had become "respected citizens," but they still needed to answer for their crimes.

Heck, we occasionally still see Nazi war criminals prosecuted. Again, I applaud the efforts to bring those evil men to justice, even though it is 60 years overdue.

And, for the 1,000,000th time, my feelings for Ayers and his ilk have absolutely nothing to do with Sen. Obama. In fact, I respect Sen. Obama for denouncing this terrorist.
