The people of Iraq who are now able to vote for their government. Not Saddam Hussein and the Ba'th party.
**********
Whether or not you agree with Hussein and the Ba'th party is irrelevant. The people you call insurgents may have lived there their entire lives and have just as much right to fight against what they perceive as an invading force as you or I would if the same thing happened here.
I'm not talking about terrorists who came into Iraq after the start of the war. But citizens of Iraq who chose to fight against U.S. forces because they liked things the way they were. However misguided that may have been.
Why did Hussein have any less right to a claim of ownership of Iraq than the current people in power? Because you don't agree with the way he ran things?
Don't get me wrong, Saddam was a monster. But the people fighting us looked at us as an invading force in "their" country. They may have been wrong. They may have been right. But to say they have no claim on Iraq is just wrong.
