I never went anywhere, Scott. I've been here participating in the full
discussion all along. It is I who should be welcoming you back. Glad to see
that you've decided to be part of the whole picture again, instead of just part
of it.

To be fair to Scott, Al, I've seen you do the very same thing.

I'd never claim I was classy - my record on this board is an open book.
It's still a valid criticism.

Thanks Matt.
Jodi most definitely baffled me with her response. I thought I was pretty clear in my past posts on why I don't support Obama when I did support Clinton. Mike O, pointed it out very clearly a few pages back. When I said there were hilariously stupid supporters on both sides I meant exactly that. I'm guessing Jodi started to listen and immediately got insulted without actually listening to it, assuming she knew what it would be about. She then replied based on what she thought it was about rather than what it was actually about. A lot of people do that. I've been guilty of it before and I'm sure everyone on this board has at one time or another. Listening to the whole thing makes it pretty obvious the piece has nothing to do with race and shows how little many people actually know about the candidates. At least the people who participate in this thead are politically informed and will be voting on actual issues based on their needs and desires rather than just blindly following a candidate without even knowing why.

Did you listen to it at all, Jodi? It certainly didn't paint blacks voting for Obama only because he is black himself.
Matt I did listen to the whole piece, the whole subject was, voting by Race. Scott posted it in response to the video showing the racist people that were waiting to see McCain/Palin.
OK Scott, explain why you choose that video to counter the racist people in that video?
Edited to add:
Scott you had posted before I did, look I am sorry if you are not a racist, but that video was insulting and I coupled that with some very strong anti Obama posts and jumped unfairly.

I agree that it's a valid criticism but I think that my immediately changing it after posting rather than leave and make Jodi feel bad also matters.
If people can look past an unrepentant domestic terrorist, I think they should be able to look past an instantly repentant forum poster. ;-)

Because it came up at the top of the list on youtube when I searched on Stupid Obama Supporters
I still don't see the video as racist. Though, for sake of argument, we'll say, that to you, it is racist. That would mean you just basically said there are racists supporting both candidates. Why would you consider it okay to show a video of white racists vs. one showing black racists? That, in and of itself seems a bit racist.
Posted this before I saw your edited post. I'm glad that you understand now. I appreciate it.

Well, as a gay man, you're certainly able to look past a Vice Presidential
candidate who thinks that gay can simply be prayed away...
Edited to add quote for context.

Al, you forgot to include the quote where Palin actually said that. Or are you attributing her pastors beliefs onto her? That would reopen the Wright can of worms again.

Oh, so you don't think that Wright's beliefs should in any way be reflected
upon Obama? Excellent to hear. Good for you!

Scott even though we do not agree on much, I do like you, the video of the McCain supporters were people at the rally spewing hate, I didn't see it as a white thing, I saw it as a hateful thing. But when you posted a link of Obama supporters from Harlem making them appear stupid, to me it was a lot different than showing people spewing hate.
I think no matter who you are, unless you are used to being in the public's eye, it is easy to not hear the way those questions were asked and get them wrong.

I agree that Obama's beliefs may not match Wright's beliefs but I do believe that it's an example of poor judgment on the part of someone who would have a 100% chance of being President if elected vs. poor judgment on the part of someone who has a 33% chance of being President if elected.
I don't like Palin but the odds of her being President are much, much lower than the odds of Obama.
Edited to add: Actually, I do like Palin (in that she seems nice and I think she is misguided but not bad in a Cheney sense), I just don't like Palin's politics. She is too conservative for me.
