"Obama wrote a book, Palin wants to ban them."

More BS.  Palin inquired about removing a book from the library at the request of a citizen.  She never told the librarian to remove the book.

I'd say "Palin inquired about removing a book from the library at the request of a citizen" is plenty damning in itself.

It's a minor point of comparison, but:
Obama attended Occidental College for two years, then transferred to Columbia to finish his BA in two more years.  Five years later he entered Harvard Law School, and graduated with his JD three years later.

Palin attended Hawaii Pacific College for one semester.  Then she transferred to North Idaho Community College for two semesters.  Then she attended the University of Idaho for two semesters.  Then she went to Matanuska-Susitna Community College for one term.  Then finally she completed her BS at the University of Idaho.

So, Obama went to three schools and earned two degrees.  He earned his 4-year degree in four years.  Though I don't know for certain, my guess is that his one transfer from Occidental to Columbia was based on a desire to attend a more prestigious school for the last two years.  At any rate, it did not delay his completion of his degree.

Palin went to four different schools (including two separate stints at one of them) and earned one degree.  She transferred four different times.  It took her five years to complete a four-year degree.  I do not know the reasons for her numerous transfers, but they did certainly delay her completion of her degree.

Hardly the same thing.

Seven years of college down the drain.

You're right Kevin.  It just wouldn't do to have a politician actually listen to and ask about a request from a citizen.

Again with the bad logic.

This country is in desperate, desperate need of courses in logic and ethics...

About removing a book?  You pat that citizen on the head and put them back on the bus back to the group home.

I accept your qualifiers and agree that it's more indicative of what happened than "Palin wants to ban books".  I still think it's repulsive.

What if the citizen is concerned about children having access to adult content? Do you still pat them on the head and put them on the bus?

I'm not saying that's what happened, it's just an example of what a citizen could be concerned about.

In the interest of fairness (and fishy-ness), the librarian in question has gone on record saying says she can't recall any effort by Palin to ban specific books from the town library.

There are, however, some interesting tidbits surrounding the incident:

The librarian was fired within a week of telling Palin she wouldn't remove any books ... and then, was re-hired after a public outcry.

The local reporter claims the librarian told him there were three books Palin specifically wanted removed.  The librarian says she can't confirm or deny anything.

It could all be circumstantial stuff ... an overzealous reporter trying to create a controversy and make a name for himself ... a small town librarian who felt put off by a powerful woman, etc.  Who knows?  But in the context of other stuff we know about Palin ... exorcisms, abuse of power ... I'd be lying if I said it was easy to give her benefit of the doubt.

Kinda looks like a duck and sounds like a duck to me.  (Or maybe a moose.)
