McCain consistently slugged Obama with snappy attacking catchphrases ("spread the wealth!") and Obama looked a little too tired to deal with them. McCain "won," but it won't matter. Obama was a disappointment. He played safe, retreating to his own somewhat stale generalities and rehashing of previously better-stated policies. I'm a little troubled that Obama doesn't always bring his "A" game. Coasting? Complacent? Over-confident?

Ah, McCain. He blew it. Palin? Sheesh. He could have been armed with Romney, an expert on the economy, as VP, and with Guiliani, the former Manhattan DA and terror of Wall Street, as his putative Attorney General. Coming into these last weeks, what would that have shown to the nation? Oh well.

Jodi said, in part: "I just went to the site and that came up I didn't even answer a question, how did they come to that? How does the site work? "

************************

Sorry, late to the party again...

I'm with Jodi on this. I put off clicking thru to take the quiz. When I did this morning, when the window popped up it gave me the results tho I hadn't answered anything.

And even tho he is #5 on the list, the site is all excited to tell me all about John McCain: little bio, how similar our beliefs are.

Another example of vote tampering? I feel like Florida.

I don't understand how people can keep saying that Obama lost the debate, not when there are moments like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T1-qwL5u5A&feature=relat ed

What McCain needed last night was a 5 run HR in the bottom of 9th.  Just ain't gonna happen.  He was feisty, itching for a fight in the beginning, but as the night wore on he just looked more and more like a bully.  He never got a rise out of Obama.  And all McCain ended up doing was make Obama look even more Presidential by allowing Obama to come off looking cool, calm, & collected.

Yes, this was McCain's strongest debate yet, but it was too little too late.  It was not a solid win for Obama, but it certainly was not a loss.

Once I actually (yes, actually) took the quiz...

78% Obama
75% McKinney
72% Nader
68% McCain

BEFORE I took the quiz, my unstated opinions matched...

90% McKinney
90% Nader
71% Obama
40% McCain

So, I agree with Obama a little more than they thought, but

(treating this poll like McCain and Palin have been treated in the debates)

an OVERWHELMING victory for McCain! He shot up *18%* in the polls! This is a great day for McCain, coming in fourth place, but MUCH BETTER than EXPECTED!

If Obama wins, at least we have several years of this to look forward to...

I think the things to look for over the next three weeks are (1) if Obama gets complacent and (2) Palin starts thinking about (and working toward) 2012.  Obviously that assumes that economy is in the same state and world conditions are unchanged (admittidly big assumptions!).

oh, Jeff, let's not start with that.

The position of Vice President has been a very sheltered one, up until Dick "I'm My Own Branch" Cheney started abusing the office. What the person does in that office is usually completely under the radar, up until they mis-spell words and get joked about on the evening news.

But since you bring it up: you honestly think that Biden, who has a proven track record working on foreign policy, etc, will be worse in office than Palin because he talks before he thinks sometimes? And what about Palin? You think her speeches inciting audiences will be a good match for our country? You think her interview with Couric, one of the few times we have gotten to hear what she thinks about anything other than hating Obama, put her in the best light?

I'm all tingly waiting for your response.

But, y'know Jeff, at least Biden made an attempt at counting.

Which is better than McCain, right? He needs his staff to help him:

And now, you can too!

I don't see Palin running for President in 2012 if Obama wins. I think she would go for the Senate first then possibly run for President in 2016.

Bobby Jindal could be someone to watch for in 2012.
