Andrew, I never said anything about Biden's qualifications or experiences. But he's been pretty prone to saying stupid things, especially during this campaign process.

If you had cameras in your face the majority of your day, you'd get caught saying some pretty stupid things also.
I can't look down on any candidate for mental gaffes and misspoken words*. Any human would be hard pressed to be at 100% all the time. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to answer basic questions when being interviewed though.
*Except for Bush. Sorry but he's just too stupid for my tastes.

ok - I've licked my finger and stuck it in the air and I know which way the wind is blowing.
I fully predict McCain wins this.
I'm fucking beside myself with disgust over this. Every campaign has a "moment" - something that happens that's not really true or relevant but somehow becomes what voters focus on. This campaigns issue reared it's head this week - right wing radio was all over like stink on shit, and McCain called Obama on it, and he just sniffed and muttered the truth quietly, almost under his breath.
Fucking Obama. He lost the election last night.
I'm miserable.

Mike, are you just setting yourself up for an "America got it right! n'yah, n'yah, n'yah" if Obama wins?
(I'm still on the fence to whom my vote goes to.)

******************************
No he didn't.
I don't know what you saw last night, but I didn't see enough to have Obama losing the election. And besides, as long as Palin is the running mate of McCain, he won't win. McCain, if anything, lost the election when he did the quote fingers gesture when talking about the health of the mother for abortions. A lot of times it's not what's said, but how it's said.

Mike, Obama lost the election because he didn't do well in one of the three debates?! You give up too easily! IMHO, Obama did well but not as well as the previous two debates. Still, McCain looked very uneasy with all of his smirking and nervous laughter at his own comments. You give McCain too much credit! Just pick the lesser of two evils, that's how I'm voting.
I am honestly beginning to think that it doesn't matter who gets in because these polticians will tell the American public whatever it takes to get elected and then do whatever the hell they want once they are in office. Remember, it is no longer "For the People, By the People" once they are elected and that is a shame.

I don't see how any debate swings the course of an entire election, unless the margin of victory is razor-thin like it was with Kennedy & Nixon in 1960. But this isn't one of those years.
Mike, I wish you were right on this. But I'm pretty sure you're not.

If Obama can get out the truth and the facts - if he uses that huge pile of cash he's got to buy a half-hour of primetime airtime or something and sets the facts straight on this bullshit story - he'll win handily - but if he just lets this crap hang in the air? It could deliver this to McCain.

McCain had a good debate last night - frankly I was surprised that it took this long for him to get in Obama's face. In my opinion, it's too little too late. But the right-wing radio pundits have been salivating for some tidbit of good news, and this debate finally gave them something to froth about.
I enjoyed the zinger Obama did about FOX News even questioning some of McCain's figures. Ouch.

I just want to know one thing, is Joe Six Pack the same guy as Joe The Plumer?
As a mother of an autistic child (my youngest) under Bush and the republican controlled branches of govt. , schools have struggled to keep their heads above water and children with special needs have been one of the first to be effected. No Child Left Behind was a noble idea but when you have republicans unwilling to fund it, it does nothing but hurt schools. McCain is going to leave military spending the same and may increase it while our educational system is having to cut services like special needs education and in my son's school system (K-12) they have cut all their librarians and have gutted the art and music programs.
We spend in one week in Iraq more than we spend the entire year on public education. People wonder why I am an angry democrat,( maybe not maybe they just think I was born a bitch :0) . I wasn't, in fact outside of this thread I believe I play very well with others.
I just can not stomach the thought of 4 more years of giving our hard earned tax dollars to military contractors connected to a political party drumming up business for them at the expense of our militaries lives. While our educational system struggles.
*Someone stated that Obama can't increase funding for teachers, schools do recieve federal funding and can increase that amount to allow schools to increase teachers salaries.

Everyone seems to forget that most of the polls don't include the 3rd party candidates. The RCP average right now is Obama +6.8 and that includes silly results like CBS news/NY Times having Obama at +14. Rassmussen, Gallup, and Zogby have Obama up from 2 to 6 points. Factor in the 3rd party candidates and it's really close.
