It seems that the race is decided, question is will Obama have support and guts to solve the problems US is facing right now?

I am traveling - 500km from home :( - so I could not keep up with the last postings.

peasant: - Senator McCain is Obama an Arab?

McCain: - No, he is a very decent man, he has a family.

I saw that on a Brazilian newspaper, not sure if anyone saw that, but OH MY GOD!!!
So now, if the man is Arab he is no decent and not a family man?
I wonder if someone have made this question to Obama, but with the word JEW instead of Arab and he had said the same thing. The whole world would have colapsed, people calling him anti semite or whatever.

Why US is so disrespectful with the Arabs? Are they all terrorists? If you are a muslim you are a terrorist? You know what, for a country that says we are the land of freedom, that kind of behavior is unaceptable, John McCain should apologize for what he said. horrible.

I'm more disturbed that you referred to someone as a peasant.

English isn't Marcio's first language, Scott.

But I agree - peasant isn't the word I would use to describe that citizen - "Bigot", "Dolt", "Embarrasment" - those are more fitting terms.

McCain and Obama are doing some funny material at the Alfred E. Smith memorial dinner.

Obama just said "My name Barack means "that one" in Swahili, and my middle name was given to me by someone who never thought I would be running for President".

Mike, according to HK newspapers and TV news, Obama succeeded to present a cool image of a President able to take it in the face calmly. Mc Cain... not so much.

Also, French TV thinks Obama won the debate.

Mike, don't loose confidence in your candidate so easily. Have confidence. Be inspired by him.

"So now, if the man is Arab he is no decent and not a family man?"
-----
In McCain's defense, I think he was more than a little fed-up with the
crowd's displayed attitude toward Obama that day. His goal at that point
was to dial down the mob hatred that had been brewing.

You're right that the proper response to "Obama is an Arab" would have
been something along the lines of "No, he's not an Arab. He's an
American with a Kenyan father." But that would have only been a
correction of fact. At that point, he seemed more interested in correcting
attitudes than facts.

When I heard McCain's protest that Obama "is a decent man", I
interpreted that as a reponse to all of the Obama-bashing that had been
fulminating up until that point, not merely to that woman's particular
statement.

At this point, I'm really starting to feel sorry for McCain. I believe he's
been badgered by his handlers into going negative, and I think seeing the
results of this at his rallies has made him extremely uncomfortable. I
suspect that if he had to do it over again, he might have vetoed the attack
strategy.

I never thought that "he is a decent man" was in any way intended as a
slight against Arabs, either.

Guys, just think Obama saying the same thing and change the Arab by Jew, I am not sure everybody would be soooo understanding...

I see your point, I do not believe he meant that as an attack to Arabs, but he haven't apologized and Obama haven't said anything about it.

Pure prejudice in my "south american" opinion.
