This is the crap that makes me HATE Palin and those that believe the way she does.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/17/to_avo id_being_depressed_palin.html?hpid=topnews

Here is why it pisses me off, my son is a democrat and a fine American and not only does she insult me, but she insults my child too. At what point do republicans say enough is enough with this continued divisive hate speech. I have had to listen to it for the past eight years and see, that some of those in the republican party thinks it is still ok. For any of those that feel this is A-OK and stay silent, shame on you!

This is woman that supported a group that wanted to seperate from nation and with this kind of talk she is continuing to divide this country.

Fixed CBS link~Matt

"Giving credit to a higher power for the day's poll ratings, the Alaska
governor told the roughly 500-person audience that things might be
changing. "We even saw today, thank the Lord," she said, looking upwards
and raising her fist, "We saw some movement.""

I believe I will go to my grave not understanding attitudes like this. A slight
shift in poll numbers is something that can only be credited to a divine
power? If the Republicans lose the presidency, so you think Palin will
acknowledge that God wanted it that way?

Scott says:
Though I don't think we should have gone in there in the first place, a timeline would be the worst possible thing we could legislate.  I'd have no problem with legislating a withdrawal based on specific, measurable goals, but not a specific date.  A specific date can mean leaving them worse than they were before we went in.  We most definitely shouldn't be there indefinitely, but, it should be tied to events, not time.

Scott, in that one I could not agree more with you!

Definition of irony...starting a message post about hate with "This is the crap that makes me HATE Palin and those that believe the way she does.".

Good point, Gene. How can someone who wants to lead the nation be
"made" to say anything? Who's in charge; her or her speech writers?

Edited: OK, well Gene retracted his post while I was writing mine, but I still
think it was a good point.

Jodi, what was so offensive in what Palin said?

I read the Washington Post link and it seemed like a fluff piece to me - just Palin talking about Joe the Plumber, Hank Williams Jr. and the news media. (The other link to the CBS story was broken).

Did I miss something there?

Bruce, I think it is the fact that Palin refers to certain areas of the country as "Pro-American". I don't assume to speak for Jodi, but I agree this all or nothing approach to loving ones country is not a healthy way of thinking. We are all Americans and we all love our country. We just have different ideas on how to make it better.

That's what gets my goat, Paul.  "Pro-American"?  Seriously?  It's the same sort of crap that the GOP loves to foster;  "if you're not for the Iraq War, you're un-American" "if you don't wear a flag pin, you're un-American". "if you don't fall lockstep with Bush, you're un-American". As if they have the right to declare who is and isn't American.  As if the very definition of being American hinges on whether or not you support Bush or McCain or Palin.

Bullshit.

I had a problem with the CBS link as well. As to the Post piece, the "Pro-
American states" language was contemptible but in fairness to Palin I wasn't
sure if that was her words or the reporters' description. That said I got from
the article that Palin was playing the "culture war" card.

I'll take pro-American in quotes as words from her mouth.  I can't really see any context when referring to any state of the union that one is "pro-American" and another is not.  It's disgusting, divisive, and contemptible.
