Block the Vote: Will the GOP's campaign to deter new voters and discard Democratic ballots determine the next president?

"In this one Obama is either not born in US (born in Kenya) or even if he WAS born in US, he was naturalized INDONESIAN, so he is in fact, not an american citizen and therefore an illegal immigrant, all of that, where? FOX news, of course...."

His mother being naturalized Indonesian or Obama receiving a secondary Indonesian citizenship as a child doesn't take away his US citizenship. Barring a legal ruling where the government rescinds his citizenship (for cause, such as the crime of treason or the like) Obama would have had to renounce his own citizenship, and he would have to be an adult to do so.

And the legal presumption is that Obama is a citizen. The burden of proof lies entirely on the guy trying to prove that he isn't. Obama doesn't have to offer any proof, and for all we know, documentation might be misplaced and relatives may have differing recollections (Obama himself obviously has no first hand knowledge of where he was born and his mother is long dead).

Besides, it's a technicality. His mother was a US citizen when he was born, her family have been americans for many, many generations. This is as preposterous as the claim that McCain is ineligible because he was born in Panama (where his father was stationed at the time).

It seems to be a growing misconception that you actually had to have been
born in the USA in order to be president. I blame Springsteen.

You're the only one who didn't see it coming.

I guess that's true... if you don't count me and others.

Knut,

I just wanted to share some smears that I received from a friend from University. And, it is a shame that some Republicans are using this arguments to confuse people.

For anyone interested in having a broader understanding of the current financial crisis, I suggest reading these.
I've told here many times that the de-regulation is at the root causes of the crisis. Looks like I am not alone.

Hmmm ... the layout of this cover might not help Obama with the supermarket crowd.

"Inside the Taliban" right next to Obama's mug ...

According to THIS , Tina Fey's Palin impersonation marks a change in how the general populace receives video entertainment/information. First-run television is no longer undisputed king.

Way to go, Tina!

It's an awesome issue, though, Gene.  I've poured over it all weekend - the link I posted about voter fraud at the top of the page is also an article in this issue.

Good weekend for Powell - this and Stone's W
