I linked to that RS article upthread, Mike.  Scary stuff and totally disgusting.

Here is what makes me most proud about Obama, look at his rallies you will see every race equally represented, he has the appeal of a cross section of America. He is a man of the people.

According to Newt Gingrich, Powell is going with Obama in large part because he is black. Sad really, because on paper Obama is a great choice to be president and just maybe Powell is going with that.

Newt obviously hasn't read Woodward's book about Bush's cabinet, or easier enough, seen W then.

Or he's, you know, speaking out of [ignorance].

I enjoyed the issue, too.

I was consistently struck at how Obama took the high road in the interview.  For example, when asked about why NOT McCain, he talked about McCain's judgement on specific issues, citing specfic behaviors.  When asked about Palin, he didn't say anything derogatory about her, and even said "you've got to give them credit" for energizing their base.

I couldn't help but think how different this was from the content of McCain's robocalls and Palin's recent speeches.

(Heck, if McCain/Palin were running against themselves, all we'd probably be hearing about is The Keating Five, Palin abusing power, The First Dude/Successionist, affairs with lobbyists, taking books our of libraries, and wanting to know the current extent of Cindy McCain's drug addiction.)

Who knows?  Maybe if Rolling Stone interviewed McCain, we might see a different side of him.

"According to Newt Gingrich, Powell is going with Obama in large part because he is black."

That really doesn't sound like Colin Powell. This is a guy who was admired by both sides for his intelligence and insight, his objectivity and his level-headedness. So much so that at one time he was suggested as a possible presidential nominee for either party. The only reason Gingrich tries to make Powell's endorsement all about race is so that he can dismiss it as a knee-jerk black racist opinion.

Sadly, I would expect nothing better from Gingrich.

How accurate does everyone believe the polls?  I think there are a lot of people that will vote for Mccain on election day but aren't admitting it right now.  Coulter has an article comparing polls to election results.  She states when the polls were wrong, which was often, it was always to the favor of the Republicans ie the Republicans always did better than the polls predicted.  I hate Coulter with a passion, so I'm not asking for comments about her, but about polls and their accuracy.  From this thread I read daily about Mccains latest mistakes and how he's blowing it and yet he's closing the gap with Obama, isn't he?  A while back I thought Obama had a lock, now I think Mccain will win.

I  read about the Powell's endorsement, it is a very thoughtful endorsement and you see it when you watch the video.

McCain would have been smart if he had tapped Powell, as his running mate.

That is spot on, Gene, and a neat way of looking at it.

Randy - I think the polls are not accurate, but I think they're underplaying Obama's numbers, frankly.  The polls target certain voters, and a parts of Obama's demographic are not always represented.

But Coulter is kind of right - in the last two elections, the polls indicated the Dems would win, and frankly, if all the voters had been allowed to vote, they might have.

That might happen again.  Go back a page, follow the link and make sure your vote counts.

I have a funny address.  I can't order pizza online because my official address reads like a street address even though it's not.  I live in an apartment but I don't have an apartment number.  It's confusing to everyone but the post office.

Let me say this: if someone challenges me on my address, I might have to punch a fucker in the mouth.

The Powell endorsement confuses me. My first question was "How did McCain piss Powell off?"
