Gene, I feel the same way with what's been going on with some of the democrat supporters. Shouting down speakers at rallys and the stealing of republican supporting newspapers on college campuses. Both sides haven't shown me anything I want to be associated with.
I guess there will always be bad apples.

So, Christopher, there's no difference to you between an amendment to the constitution to ban gay marriage, and just not supporting it?
Same difference to you? Same thing? Really?
Hunh.

Palin wants a constitutional amendment. Obama wants the states to ban it. Same goal, different methods.

If these were the worst thing the radical right were doing, then I would agree with you. Somehow linking Obama with cutting off a person's head, having their candidate saying certain states are Pro American and saying Obama is palling around with terrorists, isn't the same as you listed. Hate speech, inspires hate.
If you have a speaker whipping up people with lies and half truths that are hate filled and demonizing, then those in the crowd go out and do horrible things, do the ones giving the speech, have no ownership?

Obama wants the states to ban it
No that isn't what he wants
Barack Obama did vote against a Federal Marriage Amendment and opposed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. (both bills trying to ban gay marriage)
He said he would support civil unions between gay and lesbian couples, as well as letting individual states determine if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized.

Obama has never said he wants states to ban gay marriage. To the contrary, he opposes Prop. 8 in California which would do just that. Though he says states should decide on their own what to do about the issue, to my knowledge he has never endorsed any state legislation banning gay marriage. And he has consistently opposed federal legislation on the issue.
So, although Obama presents himself as someone who is personally opposed to gay marriage he is not taking any action to have it banned, and does not support the efforts of others to have it banned. Obama's position is not ideal, and it's fair to say it comes across as equivocal. But it's certainly not the same as Palin's position. Obama is unlikely to do harm himself on this issue, and seems likely to oppose harmful legislation. Palin on the other hand fully supports harmful legislation and will work to advance it. Saying they are the same is disingenuous.

Hope she pulls through. His book details how important she has been in his life. I hope she lives to see him take office...

- The former betrays the ideals of her own party and no Republicans really care. What do they stand for these days? They're little more than a name brand.

Obama may not be in favor of gay marriage but I've never heard him expressly state that he wants it banned.
