Interesting. I wonder how this will play in the national media. I agree with the substance of that link though, John. The Fed Chairman should not be endorsing a candidate (which is what Bernake has done in not so stealth way).

I agree with it, too -- and not just because Bernanke didn't endorse my candidate's plan. Although appointed by the President, the Fed Chairman is sort of like a judge - he or she needs to be perceived as independent, unbiased and above the political fray. Having that sort of neutral, unaffiliated administrator is important to protect the integrity of the markets.

I agree there as well.
You know, I'm willing to bet that if/when Obama is elected (sure looks like a
lock right now, but I'm not going to count any chickens), he's going to make
Hillary Clinton Secretary of Health or Education -- and possibly combine
them as they've been in the past, as Health, Education and Welfare.
And I'd kind of like to see Ben Stein on his cabinet.

It looks like the anti-gay marriage initiative (Prop. 8) out here in CA will probably pass... sniff. I blame people like Geoff Gibson.
It's looking like Amendment 2, here in Florida, for the same thing will probably pass as well. It's very close in the polls and it needs 60% to pass, but it's not looking good.

Apparently, bear hunting is legal here in NC (which I didn't know), during the hunting season.
Speaking of bears...

And with that a quote could be taken out of context to create an idea of my beliefs that are wholely untrue. I wholely, emphatically, enthusiastically support gay marriage. I think it is a national shame that it is even a debate. I think there is no support, at law or fact, for making the marriage of people of the same gender illegal. Not Scott's fault here and I assign no blame -- I just want the record to be clear and my character and beliefs understood.

I was driving through town last weekend and there were people on street corners, with children, waving the Yes on 8 signs - and it took all my self-control to not get out of the car and knock them the fuck out.
Look - before anyone gets self-rightious on me - I didn't do it, but I thought it. I was furious. These people are proudly campaigning for bigotry. I get that the civilized reply is to campaign against them, vote and accept the results, but on the other hand, this isn't a tax bond issue or voting on term limits or something. This is voting to institutionalize bigotry, and some people are proudly standing on street corners waving signs supporting it.
I'm not convinced that my self-control was a good thing.

I thought we had to sit down and discuss with people we disagree with?
