Mike, I heard today that there is a "proposition" in San Fran wanting to legalize prostitution. (Prop K) What are the campain slogans like?
Not Mike, but my understanding was it wasn't to legalize -- its a state law the city couldn't legalize it -- but to effectively take away the police power to prosecute. Its a weird distinction that would effectively decriminalize but not legalize it.

Sadly Craig I was just trying to be funny without actually doing the work of
being funny.
I got nothing.

Why should it be illegal for two consenting adults to enter into a contract for payment for services rendered? The only objection to prostitution comes from a religious sense that sex is immoral. If it was legal, the abuses that occur when something is underground would not happen or would be diminished dramatically.

Kind of answering your own question there, aren't you?

As George Carlin said, "Sex is legal, selling is legal, why is selling sex illegal?"
Legalizing and regulating prostitution would put the pimps out of business. That's a good enough reason for me.
