There are a few funny things about that woman's story. It may have happened but I want to hear more details.

The major difference between the woman's story and the bear story is that motives are mentioned.  It may turn out to be BS but at least no one here is mindreading (yet).

So according to the update they took random political signs to cover up the dead bear. Random signs that all just happened to be Obama? In North Carolina? You don't have to be a mind reader to find fault with that story.

As I mentioned earlier, the fact that they were political signs at all makes it
an intrinsically political act, even if their thought processes went not a
millimetre further than "hey, now that we've shot this bear cub in the head
and dragged its body onto campus, let's put some elections signs on it".

Again, they were election signs, not pizza boxes.
