Mike Myers,
Hope all is well.
Sarkozy (in a speech to the European Parliament) called for fixed-exchange rates.
I found corroboration, to what I saw on the LPAC site, of Sarkozy's call by just Googling "sarkozy calls for fixed exchange rates".
I would not have expected Sarkozy to be the one proposing this and was thinking more along the lines of Italy, Russia or a concert of nations. I think there will be a fight at this monetary
conference/meeting/whatever you want to call it over what will probably
end up being some form of a new Bretton Woods. I don't see the US going for it (a new Bretton Woods). Perhaps I am wrong.
I was amused at Greenspan and the other testimony this week. It reminded me a bit of the three monkeys joke.
Mike

There is just something wrong with a system where a candidate can receive more votes nationwide and still lose. If I lived in a red state my vote doesn't mean a damn thing because all that states electoral votes go to the other candidate. How is that even remotely right.

Here's my feeling on the Electoral College System being a dem living in a red state.

I'm still up in the air, but this cartoon explains something I dislike about Obama's plan in a way a child could understand. :P

Scott if it will help, when I watched the biography about Obama, he got involved in finding jobs for people that were on Welfare because his grandfather taught him about feeling proud of earning a living, instead of being handed one.

That cartoon seems to be saying that people who earn less than others are "lazier".

That cartoon says a lot of things. None of them remotely accurate or fair.

A number of polls are showing Indiana as turning bluish today, Jodi...

Even RealClearPolitics.org has Indiana as being a toss-up:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain /
So take heart. At least your vote means something this election. I'm from Illinois... my electoral
votes would've gone to Obama regardless of whether I supported him or not.

I cannot understand how someone lucky enough to have a good job and live comfortably can have such a problem with paying a little more into the till to help those less fortunate. Not every poor person in America is a pathetic loser too lazy to work.
I count myself lucky I have a job and can live without worrying where my next meal is coming from. If I have to pay a little more taxes to help those below me, I'm happy to do it.
I'm not rich. I make between 35 and 40 thousand a year. My wife makes between 10 and 15 thousand. But we live comfortably. I don't want for anything. I see people everyday trying to live on pay from McDonalds. Good hardworking people. It doesn't bother me at all to help them out.
The ones who abuse the system are few and far between and it's really not fair to lump them altogether.

I disagree (surprise).
It seems to be a pretty accurate representation of spreading the wealth and lazy is a matter of perspective. To me, someone who wants the government to give them money rather than work hard for something is lazy. It's only been in recent years where I've made good money and wasn't struggling. I never wanted or accepted a hand out. I just worked 2 or 3 jobs when I needed to. The fact that he wants to take my tax dollars and give them to some people who don't really need the money ticks me off. Wanting the money and needing the money are two completely different things. There aren't really that many people who truly need the money and I have no problem with the ones who do. When I go to the grocery store and see people buying expensive steaks with food stamps (or food debit cards now) and using their cash to buy cigarettes and alcohol, it really bothers me.

No, no surprise at all. I do find it an appropriate summation of your position
on Obama, however, so you've got that that you can take home with you.
