Also the beneifit to donating more money is it effects the other side, when Palin does an interview or a hate rally, I want the opposing team to know, I am sick of it and feel it has no place in politics. Right after the Palin/Biden debate Obama's donations sky rocketed.

Donated to their respective parties to fund other campaigns. +++ Is it possible that leftovers are use to pay Hillary campaign debt? (not sure if she cleared after Obama's nomination).

Everyone knows Hulk Hogan is the only Real American. His theme song even says so
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------
Now now, David. the Hulkster is only A real American, not THE. However, he does seem to be the only person who has a bona fide plan on how to be a real American. I still don't understand why he's not on the ballot.
As for pet peeves, I love the ubiquitous "overwhelming majority of Americans" that I seem to hear quite a bit from O'Reilly. As said elsewhere in this thread, have the majority actually been asked?

Jodi, come on. You know I don't like Palin, but hate rally? Really? She has done no such thing and isn't responsible for the actions of people who might attend a rally any more than Obama is responsible for the actions of people who attend his.

I was a Ross Perot voter in '92. One of the most important things he said again and again was "if you hate other people, I don't want your vote."
We'll never hear that from Palin or McCain at this point of the election. They need any vote they can get.

Scott lets see, saying Obama is "palling around with terrorist" after what we went thru on 9/11, saying there are less American parts of the country and making sure you say Barrack "HUSSEIN" Obama at your rallies. Then there are the socialists comments. Yeah I would say that is pretty hateful talk.

has this one been posted before? i didn't really feel like going through 400 pages of posts...
Anyway, let me say I don't think has anything per se to do with McCain / Palin. What it illustrates, beyond the fact the person who sent it to me, a realtive, has been watching Al jazeera videos, is that there are a lot if willfully ignorant people who have the right to vote. I'm sure there are people like this at Obama rallies as well.
So, maybe the Electoral College isn't such a bad idea...

Holy Crap, Jim.
You know... I honestly like to believe, you know, we're all Americans. We're all decent folk who care about one another, and want the best for our friends and families and neighbors, but...
I see things like that...

Re: Jim's post above...
This election has troubled me, even more than the past couple. I think we've taken a huge step backward as a country in terms of intelligence, and I'm hoping the polls are indicative of the outcome, and an Obama victory. If McCain/floozy somehow get in there, not only will it mean more cheating was afoot, but it will be a nice coupe for the ignorant in this country.
The way hate and racism has been so openly displayed at these rallies is disturbing. I guess on one hand you can rationalize that it was bound to happen, a black candidate (actually, raised by whites) couldn't get by without a storm of racism, nevertheless, it's sort of reminiscent of the Civil Rights era where white crackers from the south can openly tell cameras they hate blacks and think Obama is an "Ah-rab" and out to oppress white people. Way too comfortable how all this hatred is out there.
If you look at the electoral maps, it's no surprise that the larger cities, places with colleges and universities of note are Democrat now and the lesser educated Republican. While I understand a certain percentage of folks will ALWAYS vote Republican, just as a certain percentage will always vote Democrat, and I understand some are confused by their religion to think ONLY Republicans can represent them, there's another group that just goes with the right for things like racism.
My common sense comments to anyone right now is: the country's seriously F'd, and has gotten very bad under 8 years of a Republican regime. It's widely known by both sides that "change" is necessary. If we agree on that, it's hard to say you can expect that sort of change from another Republican, let alone one who changed his personality thoroughly to reflect Bush.
The Republicans are brilliant though, using fear as such an important weapon in their arsenal, as well as getting the religious believing only the Republicans can represent them. Comments like McCain saying Obama is "PRO-abortion" go a long way with the uneducated and fearful.
Funny how the right had to celebrate Palin's skanky teen daughter for her pregnancy, and trot her and the redneck boyfriend on stage to be adored. In years past what was going on would have been looked at as embarrassing behavior and the daughter would be sent into hiding, and the child raised by family members. Now we're supposed to think it's GREAT! I wonder why it wasn't GREAT when Britney's horny sister got knocked up?

Coming into this late, but taxes have been hovering around 19.5% of GDP since 1950 and has been pretty constant since then.
