I've heard of some pretty shameful political corruption stories before, but that's about as blatant as it gets!

they had a veto proof majority in the House and Senate

+++++++++++++++++++++++

No they didn't

***********

Yes, they did.

http://www.c-span.org/guide/congress/glossary/vetproof.htm

The House requires 290 yea votes to be veto proof. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act had 362.

The Senate requires 67 yea votes. It had 90.

Thus veto proof.

Senate vote:

House vote:

House and Senate both voted on Nov. 4th, 1999. Signed by Clinton on Nov. 12th, 1999.

So do you have different information Christopher?

Those votes were veto proof. The Republicans didn't have a veto proof majority.

Has this been posted? They paid her makeup artist almost $23,000 for two weeks work. And her hairdresser $10,000 for the same time period.

I must be in the wrong business.

And where did I say that the Republicans had a veto proof majority? I said "they" referring to the Senators and Representatives in the Senate and the House. You know, Dems and Republicans. Even if I had said the Republicans and been wrong, exactly how did that affect the point of my post?

Right here

"Funny how the fact that the bill was sponsored by Republicans is left out by most right wingers. Clinton was all for it. But even if he wasn't, they had a veto proof majority in the House and Senate"

But then you'd have to be Gay. I wonder if Palin prayed for them before they got to work on her.

Semantics man strikes again!!!

That's a stretch Christopher, Jodi could have phrased it better ie "but even if he wasn't, the House and Senate had a veto proof majority" but her intent was clear.

To me the non-partisan Canadian that is

How I wish, Bob!  I'll be out of town for work Tuesday - in San Mateo, teaching.

Wish I could be there, though...!!

Six more days. I don't know if I can stomach much more of this.

William, t is frustrating to watch Semantics Man probe and search through your post in an effort to find something, anything to beg to differ when the thrust of your point had nothing to be argued. And most illuminating, Semantics Man proved unwilling or disinterested to apply the same critical examination towards Ed's original comment. Letting that slide by, when there are a host of debatable issues in what Ed posted. -If the Right had been as probative and critical of themselves as they've shown themselves to be towards the Left, they would be in power. In complete control. And we wouldn't have suffered the past 8 years of hell.

Just six more days of the vile slander campaign...

Small blessings.
