It's mind-boggling that it can cost $150,000 to dress a woman well. These Republicans are living in another world.

So, how about the suits Obama and Biden are wearing? And I'll make an assumption here, not sure if I'm correct, that they own the suits they are wearing. Suits that run up to $1500.00. If I'm lucky, that's my tax return for the year.

I pay 23% tax on my total gross income-if my income is 138 billion dollars, 23% of that income is $31.7 billion

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

That's not the way it works. Profits are taxed not revenue.

that would average 32 1/2 suits per candidate at those prices, thats way better value. I wonder where they shop?

I honestly don't see a difference between Palin's wardrobe budget and the parties spending millions to stage a campaign, buy TV ads, put up billboards and yard signs, etc.

*********

I do. One is campaigning and getting your message out. What message is Palin putting out?

Do you not understand the concept of campaigning? Are you saying Palin isn't putting out a message? She's making speeches. That's getting a message out(?). I don't even know how to explain this.

The tax system in the US must be very different than here because when I was a small business owner up here I was taxed on my gross, and given credits for certain expenses and even allowed to file in the red for 3 consecutive years if necessary. But had I only been taxed on my profit I would never had paid any tax, because there are always ways to make sure that books don't report a profit.

Of course if Exxon was only taxed on profit (ie. revenue minus expenses i.i.e.e. 138 billion minus 94.14 billion) , that would mean their total pre-tax profit this quarter was $44 billion dollars, which is a 72% tax rate, if they paid $38 billion in taxes.

Man their stockholders must be pissed, with the company paying 72% tax

Now Robin, are you married? Have you ever shopped with a woman in a clothing store. I'm not going to point any fingers at what a woman spends versus a man. I'm going to point at what the clothing industry charges a woman versus a man, to dress appropriately. Men can do it cheaper any day of the week. This holds up even when both parties buy IN the same store.

Edit: Oh, and I haven't seen this, but how many outfits did they buy Palin?

Only 10.5 billion of that was income tax. A profit of 11.68 billion after taxes would make the tax rate 47%

And today I saw that there are serious concerns on how "donations" are being accepted, and not tracked by Obama's campaign, serious legal violations of tracking by name, address etc of crediit card donations. Adolph Hitler donated recently. Reporters repeatedly donated tiny amounts with fake names and adresses onthe "same" credit cards, and nothing kicked it out and refused it.

William, you went after everything else in the post, don't wanna swing at this one?

Tie this in with the lists fed to Acorn (non-partisan) from the Obama campaign ( who has no links to Acorn), lists of people who had already donated their federally allowed limits..

Like I said before, I do not see any of the commercials but I saw Palin on CNN going on about Joe the plumber and his clothing. She then said "See? He is just like us!" She is basing her campaign around her common-folk anti-intellectual roots yet she spends a fortune, or at least borrows a fortune (fine), in clothing while going on about how little Joe wears Carharts and jeans.   She is using clothing as a political statement which makes her wardrobe fair game.

It would be kind of like people discovered that she has a degree in 18th century French Literature with a minor in Kantian Philosophy while she walks around saying "Gosh darn it, don't you hate them pointy-headed long-haired 'intullectuuals' and all their high-fallotin' talk? Ah sur dooo! (Wink wink)"

So the sales and "other" 20 billion of taxes do not count in their tax rate, because they aren't paying those back into the economy? Oh wait but they are

So right there Micheal, don't even get started on the crazy women's sizes-what the eff is a "0"?

Even marked up to 50% over men's fashion that's still 16 suits per guy

Michael how has the last eight years been working for you?

I am pissed I live in a strong republican neighborhood and I had an Obama sign in my yard that has now been stolen.

Well, in Michigan theres a pizzeria that offers a free pizza for every McCain sign you walk in with, mind you, no questions asked how you got it.

So, I'm afraid that I understand your problem, but I'm not hugely sympathetic.

And I'll answer your question, but with my time frame. I'm better off now than I was eight years ago, even with the crap of recent. I'm not as well as I was two years ago though.
