Scott, thanks for that.

Now, with the aggravation of the financial crisis and the clear evidence that 8 years of Republican party had submerged the country (and the world) in the worst sistemic crisis in more than 70 years. Can you still vote for McCain? I mean, you are a smart person, read what that Fukuyama guy said. Is it right to keep the party running the country after all this?

McCain, yes.  Palin, I'm not so sure.  Obama, no.  Remember, the Republicans couldn't have done anything without at least some Democrats going along as well.  Neither party is any more innocent or guilty of the current financial crisis.  There is plenty of blame to go around on both sides.

I don't want either party to have complete control.  Having the Executive branch and a filibuster-proof Congress both under the same party is a recipe for disaster of Biblical proportions whether it be Democrat or Republican.

I'm considering voting for Bob Barr even though it would be throwing away a vote in a swing state.   If either the house or the senate were Republican controlled I'd consider voting for Obama since he'd be held back from getting too crazy.  My fellow Democats have shown that historically, it's spend, spend, spend, big government and higher taxes even when they say they won't.  That's a blank check I'm not prepared to accept.

American Heritage Electoral College History

An interesting article showing a little history behind the evolution of the
Electoral College.

Republicans spend spend spend too. Instead of taxing, they borrow, which is just a form of deferred taxation.

And Scott, there's no way you were or ever have been a Democrat.

LOL was that an Obama sign they were carrying, that little shit took my Obama sign. Seriously were they going to replace a sign with the Obama sign?

I put a new one out, I had one for the primary so I just put blue duck tape over the vote May 6th.

It was in Chapel Hill.  The bluest of blue areas in North Carolina.  The homeowner had McCain signs in his yard that had been vandalized before.  It really is a shame people are acting this way, on both sides.

Here's an idea for you.  Take some straight pins and stick them thru your sign around the outside edge.  If someone is going to steal your sign, then they should at least leave a little blood for it.  ; )

Sorry your sign was stolen, Jodi. That's pretty low-class of whoever did it.

However, the Obama campaign seems to have plenty of money, so I'm sure they'd be glad to hook you up with another yard sign! (Obama has signs everywhere - and I mean everywhere - here in Greensboro.)

Same around Durham Bruce, although the further you get out from the downtown area, the more you start seeing McCain signs.

I am hoping someone took it to have for themselves because they took the wire holder too. But then that wouldn't say much for a co Obama supporter, if that is the case, that's it! I am voting for McCain.

my own anecdotal gripe...a friend has an Obama sticker on his car. His car, parked in front of his apartment, was blocked by a fundraiser the biker bar next door was having one Saturday morning. When he went and asked them to move, he was told by a very polite lady that it's a good thing he's moving his car, because they were about to rip his Obama sticker off.

I guess my question is of either side - when did it become NOT ok to express your political will? Some people take this way too seriously.

Sidebar : recently here in Kansas a candidate for a county office was taped stealing his opponent's signs form yards. Not some flunky, he himself was the culprit. Not THAT is a guy you want in office!
