Oh, and Obama's race really contributed to John McCain running the most
amateur-ish campaign in recent years.

Oh please.  That's just insulting.  It's so not true as to be painfully laughable.  Good on ya, though, for a poor attempt at being witty while sacrificing any semblance of reality.

McCain has a 45% of winning on Tuesday.  Agree?

I think he has a significant chance of winning but wouldn't put it that high.

I hate you glass-half-empty types, Christopher.

I'd rather say he has a significant chance of loosing, but I wouldn't put it that
low.

There have been six other Black presidential candidates.

***

Where they peddling a message of change at a time of a faltering economy, a deeply resented war and a hugely unpopular Republican President?  I have never said that Obama succeeded solely because of his race; he succeeded because his race, his name, his "outsider" status meshed perfectly with his "change," anti-establishment message.  A white Senator -- equally as anonymous, equally undistinguished and, yes, equally as well spoken -- as Obama would not have garnered the same media attention.

The media had all but decided that Hillary was going to the the candidate.  She was historic -- the first woman with a credible shot at the Presidency, a former First Lady.  It took someone who brought an equally historic possibility to pry the attention away.  A white Senator, regardless of how charismatic, would not have survived the early Primaries.

He will almost certainly get at least 45% of the popular vote, but that's not the same thing as having a 45% chance of winning, is it?

Mike, Mario Cuomo was a compelling speaker, but he did not have nearly the charisma Obama does.  And weren't there rumors he had connections to the mafia?  That would also qualify him as a "scumbag" if true.
