Springsteen isn't a favorite, but I like him just fine. If he was playing at a rally, I'd certainly be inclined to go.
Back in 2004, I actually paid to attend a Kerry/Edwards fundraising concert from Pearl Jam. Yes, I actually had to make a campaign contribution to John Kerry!
Believe me, it wasn't one of my proudest moments. But apparently, my love of Pearl Jam exceeds my political affiliations!
EDIT TO ADD: When Sarah Palin was in these parts a couple of weeks back, she had Hank Williams Jr. open for her. I hate to admit this, but ol' Bocephus holds some weird appeal to me. But I didn't get to go, as I was working at the time of the rally.

Bruce, as I stated earlier I tried to attend the McCain rally in my hometown. I had an emergency at work that kept me from going. I was raised by a "proud to be union liberal" father, so I've always leaned more to the left. However, I've never been one to ignore an opposite viewpoint. I've always believed you can learn more by staying open minded when discussing politics.
Since I've barely contributed to the past four hundred pages, I'll simply explain why I don't support McCain. He sold out his principles so he could be President. He isn't the first politician to do so (the first George Bush also springs to mind), nor will he be the last. But I have more respect for guys like Bob Dole or Walter Mondale who stuck to their politics even when it wasn't popular enough to get them elected. McCain was a guy who once opposed the religious right and who most Conservatives used to call a Democrat. Now he has sold out just to get the nomination from a party that slandered him when he ran in 2000. It's sad that his accomplishments and previous high marks in the military and in public service weren't fullfilling enough to stick to his principles. That is why I can not vote for John McCain tomorrow.

I'm glad you finally got to see Springsteen, Paul! And I would venture to
say that's a pretty unique way to see him. I know Obama has used "The
Rising" a lot at his rallies, and it's a wonderfully appropriate song for the
campaign.
I haven't felt this electrified by a campaign in a long time. I've tried to be
cautiously optimistic about the polls, but I am so hopeful that Obama will
win. I am very proud to support him for president.

Thanks Tim. I was happy to see Bruce again and Obama was pretty impressive to boot. (I failed to mention I shook Obama's hand after the rally. I'll brag more if he becomes President.) I was bummed I had to sell my ticket to see Sprinsteen on the Magic tour. Hopefully with his new album in 2009 I'll get to see another full fledged concert. But I'll stop here with all this Bruce, Madonna and Pearl Jam talk or we'll have to move this thread to the music section.

Why does the "right to marry" seem to fall purely under the catholic POV? It would seem to me that if a gay couple became involved with a faith that performed the ceremony accorded to the faith, then the state (workplace and insurance companies) should have no say in the matter other than to recognize it or they will be literally infringing on our Constitutionally-guaranteed Freedom of Religion.
If we feel that we can legislate such things "who can marry who," then to me it seems we are permitting personal bias (and potentially bigotry) to play a larger role in our laws than I am comfortable with.

Monte,
Amen. Also, if a man and woman are atheists, does the state allow them to MARRY or are they limited to a "separate but equal" Civil Union?

in Brazil marriage is union inside the Church (not valid to the government). and civil union is made in the public notary and is valid for the government, but not valid for the Church.
I don't get the discussion, since I saw both candidates (and their vice-president candidates) saying that they favour civil union between homosexuals (perfect sense) but are not for gay marriage.
Well, I understand that gay marriage is not allowed by any religion, so, why the fuss?

I don't think McCain and Palin favor civil unions. I thought they favored contractual agreements -- which is a FAR cry from equality under the law. But in "fairness*" I could not make out what Palin favored in her non-sensical response to the question at that debate.
*I can't be fair to Sarah Palin. I think she is fucking stupid, espescially in light of her latest constitutional guffaw over first amendment rights.
