I think the term you're looking for is "community activists."

For what it's worth, a large part of the USA votes electronically. I
do so, myself, and have for the last two presidential elections. Also,
keep in mind that in the last presidential election, we had a
registered-voter population topping 174,000,000, with a voter turnout
of 122, 294, 978 voters.

Hey Michael, just having a constructive discussion. Don't be mad at me. Don't you think that those BIG LINEs (that do not happen in Brazil) is bad planning? or that the electronic voting machine is not good enough.

Because voting is mandatory in Brazil, I expect it is rather easy to predict what will happen at each polling place.
++++
That's true!!! Also, working in the voting areas is mandatory for the people "invited" (no payment). I worked there for 5 years. My civical contribution to our democracy. :)

Ok, I promise this is my last point on the concept of persona as a means of keeping us safer thingie...
Does anyone really think Osama Bin Laden would set aside an opportunity to strike at America because of who sits in the oval office? As if he's going to say:
"Who won?" 'McCain pulled a great upset.' "Oh, darn. I guess we have to call off that big terrorist plot now."
--Vinny, Obama has shown a great propensity for selecting good people for a job. Maybe he will call upon Giuliani to guard America. I mean really, McCain is good. I'll grant you that. ...but no one is more capable of protecting America from a terrorist attack than Rudolf Giuliani. No one. He said so himself.

What's this then?

The gate is closed Christopher... After it opens the people goes to each of their sections, normally classes in a school. This is not people waiting to vote when the votation is OPEN.

That line was just too easy. Not going to do it. :P ++++
Well my friend, there are MANY people in Brazil that are unable to read and write, but MUST VOTE, because it's mandatory.
Simply do not get your sarcasm...

If you want a channel that's neutral in its views, I'm not sure I can name one.
Do you guys get CBC on satellite? It might be a boring Canuck viewpoint, but it's impartial <g>.

It's okay Marcio. Humor doesn't always translate well. Heck, sometimes it doesn't translate well even when it's in your native language (British humor vs. American humor).

Really? Seriously? It's that big of a problem? It's that tough? The hardship is just too much to bear?
Please.

Matt, you are taking your own experience as standard? What about the people who had to wait for hours, I am not the one saying that, the news are saying that. I just believe that American people deserve more consideration of their government when exercising the most important right of a democratic nation. I am glad it does not affect everyone. I just think if should not be a problem for ANYONE.
