I like the choice of Scott Williams inking this series. Another inker that I'd love to see ink JB's work is Gary Martin. Not sure if he's still in the biz though.

In around 4 days, a small preview of the restored art in the next F4 MMW vol. (with Byrne as total author) will be available.

 | JB, you mentioned in another thread that issue 8 is getting crowded. =) Out of curiosity, do some or all members of the Avengers and FF make an appearance in this part of Elsewhen?

 | Remember the old commercial of the upside down ketchup bottle? That's the feeling I'm having about the release of this series :-)

JB, when I hear people say things like this particular story arc is not being faithful to the characters, I often wonder whether that means that a character can only evolve in one direction, and if that direction has to somehow align with a character bible everyone agrees on?

I know this is a loaded topic, and understand that bad writing is bad writing. But avant garde stories have been attempted and succeeded, while the opposite is also true.
Given the breadth of story and character arcs in the X-Men title, even despite the 16 years or more of Chris Claremont telling the stories, do you think that certain characters might have a genuine story arc where they eschew virtue for villany, or some former foil eventually give up their lives for a common good?
For example, is Magneto totally irredeemable?

 | JB: The pricing on original art is insane. [..] And it’s all artificial and completely arbitrary. It's powered by the greed of the auction houses, who want as big a fee as possible and dupe non-fans into viewing these pages as investments. (Apologies if that reply is teetering on the border of non-topic.) |

Fiction is far more forgiving than the real world. Look at the way Darth Vader had all his past sins forgiven just by saving his own son. |

That’s not how I view the ending of that film, at all! Vader realized the error of his ways and did the right thing in the end. If he was truly redeemed, he wouldn’t have had to be killed at the end of the movie. He died a better person — but he still had to die/pay for his past actions. A very different ending than the one you’re describing.  |

Vader ended up a happy ghost with Ben and Yoda. That’s after participating in the slaughter of millions.
