Lately I have been wondering (no pun intended) should Wonder Man have stayed dead instead of resurrecting him years later. I think that it might have been better to let him stay dead since resurrecting him kind of undid a really good one in done story and made it less impactful on the lives of the Avengers in the long run. Also, when he was resurrected he seemed like a completely different character from his first appearance that he could have just been an all new character. At the most, his resurrection should have proceeded no further than the Vision having Simon's brain ingrams. What do you all think? Should Wonder Man have stayed dead or do you think that it was the right decision to bring him back?

I was never a fan of the character per se, although he featured in Avengers issues that I really liked. If the choice were mine, I'd probably have given him a glorious death after the Grim Reaper storyline.

Comic book deaths never take, they always go for the fake-out in the end. Like the "Death of Superman" - what were the chances of The Man of Steel being gone forever? Zero. But the story is still hailed as classic (I don't know why, in spite of the talent involved), so they keep doing it.

But you have to admit that Wonder Man's death "took" for much longer than most. Maybe second only to Bucky!
Granted, it is worth noting that Wonder Man was solely created to die in the first place.

The thing about the death of Wonder Man in Avengers #9 is that he died in the same issue that he first appeared in. So the character didn't have a long history in the comics and he wasn't (I'm assuming, but I could be wrong) meant to stick around and or brought back. Like I said, at the most, his resurrection shouldn't have went any further than the Vision having his brainwave patterns/personality which would have been made possible as a result of his ionic energy.

I enjoyed the friendship he had with Beast, so I'm happy with them bringing him back. Far from an A-list character, but occasionally some interesting things have been done with him (I thought JB's take added an interesting dimension).

I grew up during that '70s Wonderman era so it all seemed cool to me. I thought he was fun and as noted above his relationship with Hank McCoy was A-1. I think his connections were interesting with Grim Reaper and with them using his "template" for Vision. That made for interesting stories. I was never too sure about his safari jacket look but not all designs work, at least it was creative!

I always liked the character. Ambivalent towards the safari jacket. Big fan of black outfit with red W across the chest and back. Strongly dislike the green, red and yellow version with jets on the shoulders by Milgrom. Awful.
