PS - that’s not my handwriting on that colored Vision drawing.

I did see some versions of it that DID look like your handwriting.

I hadn’t seen that interview before. Excellent backstory. Thanks for sharing
it.

Also didn’t know John Byrne was anti-Synthizite.

Very faint, but nothing I can do about that.

I played with the levels in photoshop to see if I could make it less faint.

Would probably be...incredibly difficult for a recurring monthly character, but all black (like the Void) might have been neat / striking? I'm picturing all of those Havoc panels with all black and just energy effects.

A lot of comic artists have trouble with characters like that. When the figures are reduced to silhouettes, the arrangement of the limbs can become confusing.

It sometimes trips me up, just reading the things. I'm still not entirely sure of which one of these is 'correct' (and I suppose it doesn't really matter, it works both ways):

Of course, Frank’s art is deliberately challenging.

You can pick up the 11 X 17 original art version of The Dark Knight Returns, and you’ll see which way Frank drew it!

Interesting. My eye has never before now seen the DKR cover as anything other than the former (Batman with his back to the viewer), but looking online, it seems like Frank Miller drew it as the latter.

Yeah, I noticed they're doing a series right now showing that.

A lot of how I see comics is filtered through that nostalgia lens of being a kid. My brain registered the DKR cover as being his back, it's just always going to register that way for me. Maybe Frank was wrong!
