 | Truly incredible - so much going on it is bursting the frame!!

Your Nightcrawler has always been my favorite, JB.  You seem to capture the fluidity I imagine he would have.  And of course, the shadows!

One of the things I have found irksome over the years is the new "generations" of artists who want to draw Kurt "realistically" -- so no shadows on his face. "Why would his face always be in shadow?" Uhm, because that's part of his box of tricks?

 | Take away the shadows, and Nightcrawler is no longer Nightcrawler. He's just some blue guy.

very cool that my two favorite characters (back in the day, anyway)-- cyclops and nightcrawler-- are getting a lot of love in the comments here. FWIW, JB's portrayal of both was the high water mark of both characters.

It still boggles my mind -- that is, the part of my mind that's still a 13 year old kid -- that when I draw Cyclops (one of my favorite characters) he's "really" Cyclops.

 | I remember when I first found out about this forum nearly two years ago. I had just found out that JB was doing commissions through another site and it felt like my whole world shattered. Not only was I able to catch up on hundreds of commissions, but the prospect of having one of my favorite artists draw something I would like to see him draw almost made my head explode. Wow. So far two ideas down and many more hopefully to come. Again, this is a beautiful piece and congrats on the commissioner and a thanks to JB.

 | For as far back as I can recall - Nightcrawler had a power that he would become near invisible in the shadows.  A power I think Marvel forgot about in recent years (decades?).   As such -- I always pictured him being a strange fellow to look at -- since the parts of his face and hands or other exposed areas (arms, legs, etc) would be constantly and momentarily disappearing from the visible spectrum as he moved around in the natural light/shadows of any given day.  Nothing drastic -- just that sort of "did I just see that?" effect.  At night time it would be enhanced to where you'd be double blinking to clear your vision as I figured he'd have this sort of "fuzzy" ness to him in the darker lighting. Maybe I over thought it. |

When Chris first told me about Kurt being invisible in shadow, my SECOND question was "What about his face?" My FIRST question was "Does that mean he's invisible at night?"

 | What I got were gobbledegook answers and a clear impression nobody had thought this thru. Which is why, when I became artist on the book, I used that aspect of the character all of once -- and that time Chris did not write the scene as I intended! And Marvel has not "forgotten" this power, btw. They've actually retconned it out of existence, even redrawing panels in reprints!

Just remembered a SECOND time I used the invisibilty schtick, tho that time it was more of a side effect!

This was the storyline going on when I first found JB on X-Men, so has a special place in my heart.
Is it my imagination, or did Storm "throw" Wolverine at Sauron..? |

Wonderful.  So much detail in these larger pieces. Have to study it, not just look at it.  Great job, JB.
