For those who maybe hadn't heard, the folks behind Comic Art Fans launched the Jack and Roz Kirby awards at this year's OAX.

There are 7 categories and our esteemed host was the first winner of the Legacy award of Creator.

Congrats JB!  Well deserved.

(I dont think the site has been updated to reflect the winners)

An honor, of course, tho the award itself is….odd.

It’s a model of Kirby’s drawing board and chair, but someone decided to festoon them with what I take to be an attempt at a 3D rendering of Kirby Krackle. Unfortunately, it looks kinda like floating vomit!

I saw that on Chris Ryall's Instagram page but couldn't find any info on who they had been awarded to.  I was hoping you would be a recipient JB.  I couldn't think of anyone more deserving.  Congrats John!

But yeah, spot on about the oddness of the cosmic vomit.  I totally didn't get that it was supposed to be Kirby Krackle until you said it.

Toss the floaty vomit and just add a cigar chompin’ Kirby.

Just the chair and board would be fine. Simple and elegant.

Before I knew it was called 'Kirby Krackle',  I thought it was some effect of explosions/radiation making molecules visible as...'big dots'.

I had two big moments of revelation with Kirby Krackle. One was learning it was called that (tho I know not whence came the term), and the other was realizing it wasn’t the “dots” that were important, but the negative space they define.

In one of the Morrison/Porter issues of JLA, someone is walking through the trophy room, all full of glass cases of significant objects from past adventures.   One case contained Kirby Krackle, and was labelled as such.
