The Thinking Critical youtube channel released an episode of "The Geek Fix" yesterday where they listed out all the reasons for the boycott.  They then researched JB transgressions.  It is worth listening to to get the whole gist of it all.

You can watch it here:  https://www.youtube.com/@Wes_From_TC/videos

I will say this though:  An editor at Marvel would have known that pre-sales of the book would have happened months ago.  The only reason to demand a boycott now is the book is finally getting the press it deserves and she wants some of the attention.

She has caused The Streisand Effect.

Whatever somebody's beef is, being a professional at your job should mean you don't call for a public boycott against another professional for the crime of having an opinion, and not a violent or nasty one.  People are bringing up that she has been the victim of some really nasty fanboy behavior before, and yeah, it's true, but it has no bearing upon this issue or JB.

Can we not question things or start conversations on a subject we are not familiar with?

By the way, Happy Pride all.

Wow, but that thinking critical video is some unwatchable whiny shit. They’re clearly just using this instance to get a platform for their whole Sad Puppies shtick.

Dave Kopperman, I thought the same, especially at the end where they seem to get off on Andrew's terrible actions, the way they gloat over the "male feminists" being taken down, ignoring all the skeevy pastors in this country.

Under the heading of Not Getting It, I have been seeing comments—happily few and far between—complaining about my portrayal of Magneto in ELSEWHEN. These readers want what Chris Claremont turned him into over the years after I left, not an accurate representation of the character from this vintage.

Got the same complaints about HIDDEN YEARS—although there the grumblers seemed unaware that the Master of Magnetism had ever been portrayed as anything other than a noble “freedom fighter”!!

I've been meaning to point out that ELSEWHEN really didn't pillage any of Chris' contributions to the book up through #137.

Group of Seven Comics

At 2minutes and 27seconds he slips into a parallel universe and starts describing THINGS THAT DID NOT HAPPEN.

For instance, telling us that Chris Claremont wrote a detailed plot description of Dark Phoenix destroying a star, and that I added an inhabited planet.

No.

By that time, and for a couple of years before, CC and I had been working from what we called “phone plots”. He and I would run up Marvel’s phone bill, Chris in New York and me in Western Canada, hashing out the details of our tales. I would then draw what I remembered, figuring that would be the best stuff.

What we’d come up with in this fashion, as Dark Phoenix began her rampage, was the destruction of a Shi’ar battle cruiser—which had attacked her first!

I felt that wasn’t enough. That DP needed to do something cosmically heinous—the destruction of an inhabited planet. As an extra bit of “fun” I decided to use the “asparagus people”, last seen in AVENGERS 4.

I ran this past editorial, including Jim Shooter, and with permission assured, added the scene.

Most of you know what happened next.

I didn’t watch the rest of the video. I didn’t want to see where he went from such a fundamentally flawed beginning.

I cover all my hardcovers- novels, trades, nonfiction - with Mylar book jackets and man, does "Elsewhen" really pop with one.

I mean, I get that art is subjective, but that comparison post makes me really glad that Joe didn't ink the Elsewhen book.  I'm sure I'm biased, but I'm ecstatic that John did most of the inking and that Paul stayed consistent with John such that it's difficult to tell who's pages are who's.  It's super cool that Walt and Scott did guest pages, and they both did a great job, but Scott's pages especially stick out.

Seeing comments from people struggling to understand where ELSEWHEN “fits”.

Come on kats and kittens! This isn’t rocket science! It doesn’t fit ANYWHERE.

Maybe I should have called it OTHERWHERE.

You would never, no matter what you did/said, be able to prevent people
thinking what they think.
There is a subset of people that will believe black is white, regardless of
evidence presented, because that is how they feel.

There is no point engaging with those people, or attempting to address
their issues.
I recently heard a clip from an interview (May 2026 Bloomberg) with a
climate denying MP (Richard Tice, high up in Reform, possibly our next
ruling party), where they went ballistic about the interviewer presenting
graphs, charts, data, showing climate change.
The gist was ‘how dare you present me charts and expect me to understand
them. I don’t know how to interpret those and it is unfair that you come
armed with this stuff and expect me to be able to understand it and
comment on it.’
They then threatened to walk out of the interview

There is no way you can debate anything with people like that.
Unfortunately, they are starting to be able to make decisions that affect our
lives.
