A particularly nasty one on the East Coast, not sure how far it's stretching.

Know where you could not pay me to be this weekend?  On the shadeless National Mall.

I really have wished for Storm or her powers during bad weather.  (Another time, was that severe cold snap and wind in early February.)

For some weird reason, at times like this I find myself remembering an episode of I DREAM OF JEANNIE, where Tony finds himself possessing Jeannie’s powers, and contemplates all the good he can do. Irrigating the Sahara, for instance.

Jeannie cautions him that there is a balance in Nature. Bringing water to one place would almost certainly cause a drought somewhere else.

I suspect Storm would need to be careful about such things to!

That's a really interesting point I've never thought about.

I also wondered how far of an area Storm could control.

As a teen, I wanted Kitty and the Invisible Woman's powers combined (I'm sure you all can figure out why), but what I wouldn't give for some cool rain right now.

 :)

Ok, I cheated a bit when I pointed a meat thermometer at the sun yesterday.

But in the shade it was still reading 103!!!

This reminds me of a bit from (post-JB) Chris Claremont...

Here's a similar quote from a 1984 episode of "Dungeon's and Dragons".  This was the episode where DM gives all of his powers to Eric the Cavelier:

"Dungeon Master: You must realize that everything touches everything else. Every action has its own consequence. There is a universal balance. If you bring water here to quench your thirst, you may be turning farmland into desert elsewhere."
