Hey JB-
I was roaming through the commissions and found the Hulk vs Sasquatch and Guardian image (great art!) and got me thinking...
We saw Walt fight the Hulk once, fairly early in his career as Sasquatch, but IIRC there wasn't a definitive winner.
Now that Walt's gotten some experience, assuming there's no editorial mandate either way, would he have a pretty good chance in a rematch?

If the Hulk still gets stronger the angrier he gets, I think he’d ultimately prevail.

The Hulk being what he is, defined as the strongest, that's what makes match ups with him so exciting. For me, Lee/Kirby really knew how to play out these kind of fan-fun scenarios without disappointing anybody, e.g., FF #25-26 is just about the perfect example (Hulk v. Thing).

Of course, it all becomes moot if Sasquatch is attacking him in the showers at the Y…….

LOL! Yeah, Bruce tends to get too excited to change in those situations, as I recall.

Honestly, its a ridiculous claim that The Hulk gets that much stronger the angrier he gets... We neglect to realize that his "finite", simple mind is  only capable of so much anger/rage hence "finite not infinite" strength. How angry can someone so simple minded get? Angry because you called him ugly? Angry because his car got stolen? Angry because he got hurt in battle? Angry because you shot his dog? Angry over an election? Angry because he's angry?  My point is it must plateau at some point, he has limited understanding thus limited levels of anger and by default strength.
Hulk in that context is for the most part just lazy writing & a protected "poster boy" character. I never could get that into the character as a result. I guess we all read into things differently.

You buried the answer in your dismissal. The Hulk is a creature of blind, unthinking rage, and one sure way to constantly increase that rage is to KEEP HITTING HIM.

Noted JB, I just can'r buy it... Marvel has a shield placed on an otherwise dull character. I'm pretty sure the Maestro arc, etc...if you're up on any of them  must've come around as a result of the monotony of the character that is the Hulk

Harry, you’ve clearly never seen a child throwing a tantrum.

All things being equal, and this being the classic Hulk, my bet is that Walt has to win the fight really, really fast--as JB points out, Hulk only gets stronger the angrier he gets, so a long, protracted fight ends with a decisive Hulk win, IMHO.
And with experience, I'm also guessing Walt doesn't jump into fights without gaming out the likely outcomes. At this point, he probably wouldn't choose to take on the Hulk unless there was no other choice.
Thanks, JB and everyone! Great discussion!
