Chris: That batman piece is really reminding me of someone's style, and I
can't think of who it is. I really like it though.

Do you have a specific inspiration for those intriguing monsters, JPB?
I can't think of anyone except Kirby who I have seen with such a flair for them.

Mikael, thanks for the kind words.  Your stuff's pretty cool.  Is that for anything specific?

Al, After I finished it I thought that it was a bit similar in approach to David Mazzuchelli on Year One but that was not what was in my head.  In the pencils below you can see how different it looks.  I was going to do 'traditional' Batman, almost as though Dick Giordano or Tom Palmer were inking. Then as I started I remembered the new approach that JB has been using recently so changed tactics.

Also the new paper I'm trying is absorbing the ink slightly differently than the type I normally use and causing it to soften the edge of the line.  I think I like it.  I'm going to try it on some sequential stuff next, see what happens.

I like that one a lot, Darren!

Here, I tried to flex some muscles drawing some old favourite of mine.
It became clear very soon that I'm a bit rusty(took me ages to finish it!.
