Thank you! That means a lot to me because I usually make an effort drawing them.

I thought it would be interesting to post my "other sketches". And since my scanner is working perfectly I've decided to post some of the things that I draw in class. Since I have so many boring classes I have dozens of pics (many of which I've thrown away).

By the way the guy with glasses saying blah, blah is one of my teachers...

And the other one was done entirely with a blue pen (hence no possibility to correct it and it looks kind of rushed).

This is the only one that was done in my free time...

Mikael Bergkvist: You're amazing. I don't understand why you are not drawing Batman or Detective Comics monthly. And not only you are very good but also very fast (unless you've been lying to us about your velocity).

Thanks.
Yes, I am fast, always have been, but the art I see here is also unexpected, aside of being well done, and that's really cool.
It's a good thing to see new stuff, stuff with it's own unique perspective.
Your ideas always suprise me in a  good way Arc, they are like snippets from real life.

Myself, I tend to do standard superhero stuff. :-/

So I'm either not Superman or I was exposed to kryptonite last night:

You're welcome. I really appreciate your compliments. I usually draw stuff I see (id est my teachers or the people sitting next to me in class), and sometimes I draw things that I haven't really seen but that still looks "real life" enough.

I'd love to do superhero stuff, but I think it requires a special ability. In my opinion there are no Batman models in real life (which makes it hard for me to even think about drawing him).

To answer your question I always use all the extra help I can get.

Arc, I use all the help I can get too. I went to art school and spent
countless hours drawing the human figure from life. But for me it is a
completely different thing to invent characters and poses straight out of
my head and draw them. I use anatomy books, comics, and even 3D
software to help me visualize the poses i want. it might be easy and come
naturally for some people, but not for me. and the more I draw the less I
need other visual aids. I will practice sketching poses using visual aids
and then draw the final pose form my head. And usually to get the pose
exactly as I am picturing it in my head take a whole lot of correction and
adjusting as I draw. For me its a struggle right now, but I'm counting on it
getting easier as I draw more and more.

There are some things you can learn and some you have naturally. You
can learn anatomy and perspective, but the natural nice line quality that
your drawings have comes naturally to you. The more you draw the more
control you will have, but in some cases we can lose some very nice
qualities our mark making has when we become 'better' artists.

Dave Braun: Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who needs photo ref and stuff. Whenever I see someone drawing the Hulk or a big monster I know they are creating everything out of thin air...

It's very reaffirming to know that even someone as talented as you still needs some sort of visual aid. I've never been into art school, I would have loved to but instead I decided to study something very useless in college (and I'm still there).

Matt and I are big fans of the TV show, Chuck, as well as its theme song,
Short Skirt/Long Jacket. Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) perfectly
illustrates the song.
